Straczynski vs. AI, Musk vs. The Odyssey, Slay The Spire Controversy - Fandom Pulse Daily Briefing
What a wild day. I posted up my video because it was too long to type about how I was nearly deplatformed again with a payment processor stopping Flying Sparks Omnibus in its tracks. We’re back live with a solution they won’t be able to hit. Big shout out to all the new paid subscribers who apparently liked my pitch for a new Star Trek series! Glad you enjoyed it!
J. Michael Straczynski Says AI Can Never Tell Stories, But His Essay Proves Nothing Other Than He Fears The Tech
J. Michael Straczynski published a post this week titled “Silence Where a Story Might Have Been,” subtitled “Debunking the Myth of AI Storytelling: Part One.” He created Babylon 5 in the 1990s. Picard dragged a beloved character through grimdark misery tourism for three seasons. Strange New Worlds got closer to the formula but still couldn’t stop itself from doing musical episodes and crossover stunts. The franchise has been strip-mined for nostalgia until there is nothing left to extract.

I had a chat with a friend of mine who had been playing much of Slay the Spire 2, ever since its Early Access launch on March 5th. When asked how he felt about Anita Sarkeesian appearing in the credits, he replied: “I don’t feel much” adding that the game already had a bunch of hate from Chinese critics for one of the bosses being difficult.
