BTW: I bought 2 Yes 2 copies of Crimson Desert (deluxe edition) 1 for PC and 1 for PS5. I'm curious to see which one is a better experience and if the PS5 one is way... lesser than my 3080 Ti - 2th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900H (2.50 GHz) - 64 Gig RAM gaming laptop. If the difference is marginal I'll keep console gaming for a while longer.

Here’s my problem with games like this: it is 100% a culture war strike against their own demographic.
When I play a God of War game, I play it to do one thing only, and it’s the same reason I play Doom:
Rip and Tear.
The story is great, but also secondary to what, as a man, I’m looking to use this for.
I do not want new precision combat. Nor do I want the perspective of a woman flavoring the experience. That’s not what I use this franchise for.
I say this as a man who prefers to write from the female perspective in his own works.
The problem is that the best talent in the gaming industry all believes the culture war shit they’ve been taught, rather than understanding the economics of what sells and keeps their salaries high. So, we end up with many progressive artists seeking out projects where something is actively being taken away from white males just so they can find another reason to attack us.
It’s assinine.
Because stories like Hellblade exist. Heavenly Sword. The Last of Us.
These games do female perspective really well, and I LOVE them.
The adaptation the industry has come up with is to use previously successful IPs to minimize risk while letting the talent create what they want.
The obvious solution is to push these studios off remakes and reflavors, instead directing them to new IPs that function similarly to the success of other titles.

Make your female characters all blue haired and angsty, but do so in a way that is authentic to the female experience (not just every girl being as tough as a man and spitting because it subverts male expectations for women)
Do something new, fresh, and for the love of God, honest.
I can see their point. We don’t know anything about the game. It could be good. Complaining about it because it’s a woman does sound misogynistic.
However, I can also see how there has been a pattern of studios (and media projects all over the culture) doing this for the sake of politics rather than to be a good game or be a good story. And one of the arguments against this has always been ‘you are actually doing more damage than good to your cause.’ And now it’s coming true. This might be a genuinely good game, but its reputation is already being hurt by what’s come before it.
