A UK-based VTuber and digital artist says British police arrested her last month for possessing her own artwork, seized all of her electronic devices, and released her on bail with conditions that include using a police-approved account name and posting nothing but safe-for-work content.
Bruh, It's a classic abusive policy that harms minorities more than it protects them. Let me explain, the obscenity laws & fictional child laws were designed to protect vulnerable populations from exploitation. However the built-in result of these rules are vauge, discretional, and curel leaving many people to starve to death because offenders are considered to risky to enter any establishments including food stamps and homeless shelters (aka no food is practically allowed once convicted). Not only that but due to the vauge unclear nature of the ruling it leaves people like me who have neurological disabilities like Autism Spectrum Disorder in serious danger of abuse, manipulation, bruising, infections from severe wounds, limited access to medication (I need them for my depression and fatty liver disease), and brain trauma from severe police brutality. Even through multiple medical professionals throughout my life have strictly indicated that I am a very safe man that respects others to the most ultimate degree. Obscenity and Fictional child laws don't care about the intent of the person just the intent of the content which is severely ableist similar to how the jim crow laws were enacted against people of color. But in the terms of Obscenity and fictional child law it's that people with disabilities have practically no legal defenses unless there's without a doubt a reason to believe they simply didn't understand legal proceedings in the first place. But even then it's just a vist to a mental health facility which is likely a lifelong sentence. Overall obscenity and fictional child laws need to be destroyed and replaced with laws that prioritize the danger of real life offenders and their behaviors on vulnerable people rather than having content itself banned and then starving innocent victims to death. Please People with disabilities and beyond deserve justice not punitive action, especially when it comes to obscenity and fictional child laws.
