Man I want to see a dinosaur movie that is set in the real America now. It started when they had the dinosaurs released in oklahoma and no one thought to have a rodeo. We would have a rodeo. It might take a few months, but we would have a rodeo.

The worst part about these quiet desperation-type mothers is that they’re so caught up in their own bs that they don’t even realize that the men in their lives resent them and their daughters play them. These are the homes the dad usually runs, so mom can keep imagining she’s being held back, even though she has all the time on earth because, again, dad is running everything.
Can’t remember the last time I went to the movies because of slop like this. If they are going to write the screenplay around cunty, unlikeable women… then they can go and watch this crap while I stay home and do chores and other needful things.
Nowadays I watch the CHUD critics like The Critical Drinker and others who are watching this crap so I don’t have to.
And despite the movie, being writing and directed by David Robert Mitchell of ‘It Follows’, it’s pretty obvious that J.J. Abrams’ fingerprints were on this movie. It wouldn’t surprise me if J.J. Abrams was the one who demanded the script changes, so we get this girlboss moment. No wonder Oscar Issac left this movie before filming began. Wouldn’t surprise me if J.J. Abrams was this movie’s actual director, and David Robert Mitchell was just there to set up shots.

Too bad you didn’t stay till the end. It was hysterical and spoiler alert: the dad lives in the end.
You failed to acknowledge that the dad literally dies defending his wife. You also ignore all the bravery of the little boy throughout the movie.
So you left the theater because you couldn’t tolerate a story arc, and dismissed all of the male bravery because- just like those who only see misogyny and ‘patriarchy’ everywhere- you only see through a distorted lens that gets offended.
To anyone interested in a real review- by someone who also finds overly’girl power’ tropes annoying:
This movie was really fun and a lighthearted refreshing old school 80s like movie romp.
Don’t ruin every good thing through a culture war lens: this movie wasn’t guilty of the accusations here at all.

there's absolutely no reason to kill the dad except misandry, otherwise why not kill the mom instead and have BRAVE dad save the family.
also, i cant be bothered with time-travel paradoxes anymore, but in the "happy ending" you learn that mom is a successful author, lesbian daughter is at Cornell and head of the science club, son is in a leg cast and has a girlfriend - and dad is just where he was in life and cooking dinner for the family. Also the daughter and the girl of color are a couple now. So no, I didn't misread the subtext, i was spot on AS USUAL.
