Terry Matalas, showrunner of Star Trek: Picard’s acclaimed third season, used this weekend’s Star Trek: Las Vegas 60th anniversary convention to reveal exactly what his shelved Star Trek: Legacy spinoff would have covered in its first season: a Klingon Empire unraveling from the inside, with Worf’s estranged son Alexander Rozhenko at the center of the chaos.
Yep. If I were at the studio, and if it were up to me, I'd set up a proper 30-year canon & production plan, and put many projects into active development, one after the other, because there is so much potential to do good Star Trek, including stuff that expands on what Kurtzman Trek has introduced: United, Legacy, Year One, Starfleet Intelligence, Odyssey, the occasional theatrical movie, a Trek anthology series, the Lower Decks cast in a serious dramatic live-action series, The Burn as a frantic disaster movie or three-parter etc.… fans including myself have had a lot of ideas. As for Legacy… so many rumors were flying around: Kurtzman didn't want it, because it wasn't his, Jeri Ryan didn't want it, because it wasn't good in her opinion, the studio didn't want it because it would've been too much classic Trek. In the end, we know very little, but the comment that "the delay reflected careful sequencing of the franchise’s slate rather than any lack of interest" still makes the most sense to me. And the fact that Matalas only wrote a quick treatment for parts of the pilot, shows me that "Star Trek Legacy" was way smaller than people thought it was, not even a proper pitch. Which brings me back to the beginning: the studio must create a sustainable plan, like right now, and start developing.
According to Michael Dorn, Matalas wanted Worf to be homosexual in the 3rd season of Picard and to kiss another man. Dorn (who is apparently a normal man) said he couldn't kiss another man, so Matalas let him off the hook.
So, although Picard season 3 was good, I don't think Matalas is the franchise-saving hero we have all thought.
Nope, sorry, uh-uh. Every last character, episode, pitch, every scrap of paper down to scribbled cocktail napkins is Fruit of the Poisoned Tree.

I don't care if "X" episodes of "Y" season of "Z" show were kinda, sorta passable. It only serves as an example of how beaten and downtrodden a fandom we've become to accept any of the slop served us like we're suffering from Stockhaolm Syndrome.

You don't start a new garden without first pulling out all of the old weeds, rototilling the land, and refertilizing the soil.
Well, it was too gay to go on. That backstory from the previous season was ignored, except for a glance by the two characters. One of those characters wasn't necessary or wanted. I think it might have gone on and been okay, but moving forward to leave behind this "universe" and continue from Enterprise onward would probably be better.
I don't mind we didn't get Legacy to be honest. Because it is still Kurtzman Trek, eventhough Matalas would be the showrunner. It would have meant Kurtzman would probably stayed around longer and who knows, he wouldn't be interfering with Matalas' version of Legacy.
Kurtzman used up his chances but Star Trek has plenty of chances for redemption.
