I confess to not reading this article because the author is on BlueSky and so I am refusing to read any words he says. I still ❤️ed it though because some people are better at tolerating people like this.
None of Busiek's comments are surprising at all. If you've been following his Astro City series, the moment he switched over to Vertigo, he dropped most of the super heroics and world building for a lot of social justice storylines that came out flatter than you would expect. This even included a rather lame storyline about him being nostalgic about music from the 1960's and why it wasn't revolutionary anymore and simply abandoning any further interesting plots. He was born in the 1960's so it basically makes him an late self loathing white boomer from the North East. So you really shouldn't be expecting anything less than that typical hard blue identity.
He has to square the circle that the setting, characters, and story he admires, and from which he and his stand to profit are created by an author who has WrongThink.
As a good SJW he should at least go full Rangz on the Wizarding World, but rightly suspects that without Rowling, the viewership and profits will go Rangz-shaped as well.
His own craftsmanship makes him suspect that the stories Mrs. Rowling created, despite gay-gandalf*, are themselves, as the SJWs are won't to say, problematic. Which means they all ought to be cancelled in full, but... see the above 'graph.
