I've watched it get steadily worse as the years fo on. I can only imagine now how modern media criticism would have affected him.
Spiderman, the Punisher, Daredevil. These were always New York stories that didn't need the Avengers to carry them. If this is an 8/10 (which are high marks considering modern movies) i may go see it this weekend.
Marvel has character assassinated the entire X-Men team. For the past several years they've been mass-murdering, tyrannical, mutant supremacist terrorists.
It's genuinely shocking what they've done, and how they can't see it for the life of them. Despite their despicable actions, the X-Men are still on the right side of history," so everything is justified.

Tom Holland is the best actor to ever portray Spider-Man. Better than Nicholas Hammond. Better than Tobey Maguire. Better than any other actor. He IS both Peter Parker and Spider-Man. And in this movie he's no longer a teenager but a young adult. If you're a fan of the character (and who isn't?) then this is some of the best of web-slinging, wall-crawling fun you will experience. I also enjoyed how the movie reminded audiences that he is New York's Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, more suited to fighting Tombstone, Boomerang, Tarantula, and Scorpion than Loki or Thanos. Or as New Black Widow calls it - "the smaller potatoes." This is the first time I'm aware of that DAMAGE CONTROL has been in the MCU. I've been away from the comic books for awhile but I remember DAMAGE CONTROL being more private and in the construction world more than another federal agency like SHIELD. Unlike the MCU movies of the past there's hasn't been as much of the shared universe in this, either. Other than Black Widow's sister - and Jean Grey - there's only The Hulk and The Punisher. The Hulk was fine. Jean Grey never meets Professor X and there's no hint of her eventually becoming Marvel Girl/Phoenix. As for The Punisher? He was the one sour note for me in this movie. First? The language. Families take their children to see Spider-Man movies. Setting that aside though - I read the comics written by fantastic writers like Gerry Conway, Mike Baron, and Chuck Dixon and obscenity laced profanity was never a characteristic of Frank Castle that I can recall. Admittedly I never read the Punisher MAX comic books, which I understand are much more "adult." I haven't been watching the streaming Daredevil program, either - so this was my first introduction to Jon Bernthal. Not impressed. Hollywood can't seem to get The Punisher right. They failed with Dolph Lungren and Thomas Jane as well. So far it appears the late Ray Stevenson is the only actor who "gets" The Punisher. I also understand that Marvel itself is embarrassed by the character since The Punisher is a favorite of the Special Forces community, law enforcement, and many traditional Americans. So they've been hard at work attempting to deconstruct and erase anything which makes the appeal of The Punisher attractive to begin with. Basically Frank Castle is Don Pendleton's Mack Bolan. The Executioner. In paperback during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s Mack Bolan was a HUGE success. So was his comic book alter ego Frank Castle. So naturally those writing the comic books and making the movies today hate Frank Castle (again - with the exception or Ray Stevenson in PUNISHER: WAR ZONE). So my only sour note with regard to this Spider-Man movie is with The Punisher. Other than that? Great movie!
This movie was not very good, typical marvel slop that also tries to pull on the nostalgia strings by failing to mimic the Raimi era cinematography and NYC street level threats.

I read that Jean Grey straight up kills people in this and gets away with it. What is going on here?!?
