I remember Grummz, a seemingly self-appointed leader of Gamegate 2.0, personally thanked SmashJT for going against the woke agenda and many people including me fell out of their chairs in disbelief as SmashJT proudly said he would defend trans content in games.
Then a few days ago on Twitter, Grummz made a post regarding his dismay at pdf files cruising Roblox for victims to 'make the Internet real-life' in the worst way possible. We know where the spiritual rot comes from.
Lastly, add Westwood Studios to the list of great studios killed and mined for its IP.
I think we need to now separate GamerGate from GoonerGate. GoonerGaters are weak-minded conformists whose only firm stance is to demand hot babes in their video games. Nothing else bothers them as long as they get eye candy. They will not fight for anything as soon as they get that core indulgence back.
GoonerGate is very much a case of people loving their sin enough to fight over keeping it.
To the extent that opposition to payment processor censorship is necessary, we should be very careful about which allies are 'enemies of my enemy' vs. stalwarts worth counting on for support later on. Many allies of convenience & circumstance are involved in this latest Culture War dust-up-- people who cannot be listened to in any serious way once moral questions begin to be asked.
You can see this in the way MadamSavvy got cozied up to by Ana Valens after Itch.io's deindexing of swaths of LBGT content forced the deep left into some measure of anti-censorship activism. (To her credit, MadamSavvy distanced herself from Ana because she recognized the Trans-madness of the later.)
MadamSavvy does excellent research into the connections & overlap between the activist pressure groups and governmental agencies being pushed forward as the 'solution' to the 'problem' of child harm on the internet. (i.e. Collective Shout's overlap with proposed regulatory efforts in Australian government.) I cannot recommend her beyond that for any form of moral guidance, because she takes the GoonerGate position that many consumers/writers of the deindexed smut happen to be women, who therefore (correctly) cannot be male incel mysogynists, like Collective Shout claims.
While logically correct-- morally speaking? Her analysis misses the mark.
Fallen people pushing to preserve their sin cannot present us with guidance, nor meaningful long-term opposition to the (frankly) satanic efforts to strip the internet of anonymity.
