I'm a Life Member of SFWA since 1997. 32 of my books are in the eligible database.

And I support Anthropic 100 percent on this one. Training an AI on a book is no different than reading one.

I stand with Anthropic!

Anthropic could devastate the SFWA officers and marginal memrrs by asking for short stories " in the style" or better, "with the language complexity," of those people. I will wager JDA another book purchase that the AI prepares a more readable product.

I've already done shorts in the style of William Gibson, Tanith Lee, Neil Gaiman, and some popular Lit RPG authors.

SFWA has a point about the AI using pirated versions. I'll give them that.

But I bet AI is probably better right now at writing stories than the typical blue-haired comb-over genderless body-type Blob writing "science fiction" today.

Let AI have its run.

They don't because how can they prove where what book was gotten from? It's conjecture.

Weren't these the people who said it was okay to AI when writing? Or was some other group of grifters?

No they hate AI and protest it at every turn. They're scared cuz AI writes better than them.
