When Westerns started to suck soooo badly, late 60’s-early 70’s, the industry, mercifully killed the genre. It’s never recovered.
I don’t know if superhero movies will recover. Let’s say it takes a decade. My oldest will be approaching thirty and be the key targeted demographic. Written comics have sucked so badly during this millennium, neither he, nor any of his friends care at all about heroes.
They’re gamers. Those movies suck now like the superhero flicks, save the 1st two Spideys.
Maybe some company will step up, like Marvel with Jon Favreau did, and kick off the next generations’ westerns, war flicks, sci-fi, or capes. Every generation rows with their own interests and the new generations aren’t into the tainted comics of today.
The industry is a dead man walking that doesn’t realize it yet.
Maybe that’s too grim, but nothing lasts forever. I couldn’t stand Westerns growing up.
