Any efforts made to keep kids safe is worthwhile. However, what these people ask is virtually impossible, even with the strictest of age verification and visual ID. Pretty much the only thing that might give the certainty these law makers are asking for is a DNA sample, Apostilled Birth Certificate physically mailed to the office, and fingerprints. Are those things you really want a child surrendering to a video game company? And that still doesn't eliminate all Fraud so the net effect is NOTHING.

The blame shifting by the parents shows they are so bad at raising children they couldn't even be bothered to investigate the game their kids are playing. But there's no money or sympathy to milk if they take responsibility for their part of the tragedy.

Let's talk about the settlements to date? Pfft. Barely a rounding error for a company with 7 billion in revenue per year. A cumulative $50m in fines won't teach Roblox any lessons except to reinforce their risk management approach to saving for fines is the more economical than trying to implement what the suits ask from Roblox, But those AGs will certainly campaign on it showing how serious they take child safety.

Now Congress is getting involved because they realized they're missing out on their share of the loot.

Lord save us from the ignorant people who suddenly see a great wrong that must be righted. And only that can only be done by forming and running expensive committees and hearings costing the tax payer 10s of millions before nothing gets done anyway.

Maybe all those millions should be turned back around into hunting these sickos down? Perhaps after a few are caught and turned into a Jackson Pollock painting via wood chipper, the others would scurry off?

Predators stalk the watering hole until you kill a couple to scare the rest away. This has not changed since the dawn of time.

Instead though, the money is just turned through the grist wheel of grift and corruption. If they actually solved the problem, they couldn't continue to shake down Roblox for more millions.

Congress just wants their cut now.
