Picard was first a diplomat and with someone else in the role he could have appeared weak. But Stewart brought such gravitas to it that you felt like were watching one of the great men of history command a starship. Boldy go, Mon Capitan.
Yeah. I'm a little choked up. What Scotty said with sarcasm, I say with conviction. "Brought a tear to me eye." I met him at a convention back in the 90s, while the show was still on the air. Didn't really get to talk to him as the security had us hand the item at the end of the table and he couldn't really tell whose item he was signing, but I got to say hi and thanks.
Other than some TNG nostalgia near its end, Star Trek: Picard spent three seasons tearing down its White male protagonist. The question isn't whether Stewart's death will end the franchise, it's whether Trek is worth saving at all.
'Star Trek Picard' left me feeling very down on the franchise and disappointed with Stewart's contributions to the themes of it. However, season 3 of STP was quite the heartfelt sendoff so much so that all was well thereafter.
DS9 started a copy but found it's own way, thank goodness. Both are the epitome of Trek, from different angles. This shows that it's possible to capture lightning again in Trek but I agree that it's unlikey in today's climate.

Boy that’s good. Beautiful.

Picard just won’t be the same without Patrick Stewart.
