The casting choices break my suspension of disbelief and pull me out of the story. You did not even mention Page as Achilles, yeah that is believable. While I generally like Nolan and Damon, I will be avoiding this, even for free on my next transatlantic flight.
Ellen Page is not playing Achilles. She's playing - get this - a male character from Greek history who is NOT in The Iliad or The Odyssey. Nolan is inserting some unrelated Greek character into the story just to give Chopoff M'Breasts a role in his film.
I could see Ms. Page as the deceased shadow of Achilles were it handled properly - though nothing I’ve seen of the film so far suggests it would be done well.
While I don’t like the casting choices, the biggest break in the suspension of disbelief for me is the use of what is clearly a Norse longship in the trailer.
I’m guessing both the casting and prop decisions were made with the deliberate intention of qualifying for as many different awards categories as possible - hopefully not under some misguided idea that they would drive an audience.

Nolan failing such a specific detail as Helen's beauty is actually far worse, but it speaks to the same issue: either Nolan did not read, or he does not care about the Odyssey. It's the same either way and tells me that he cannot be trusted with such an adaptation.
Van Halen used it as a test: if the little details were letters perfect, the big details were likely to also be. If Nolan can't even get one of the single biggest details right, how safe is the rest of the production?
