Political and cultural commentator Milo Yiannopoulos called for a boycott of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey after it was revealed that Travis Scott was revealed to be part of the cast.
I hope Hollywood loses money and the classical translations of The Iliad and the Odyssey become more popular. After enduring parts of Disney Star Wars and avoiding The 'Rangz' of Power, my appreciation for the source material got stronger. So, in a bizarre way I am grateful for these fools that weaken themselves while reminding me of what drew me into the old stories that I still cherish as man who just entered middle age.
I was never going to watch it anyway. Between Zendumpster and real life monster Ellen Page, it ws clear that this is not targeted towards me, and that's a shame, because I love both The Iliad and The Odyssey. Nolan blew it this time.
The idea of making a single film of The Odyssey strikes me like trying to make a single film of Lord of the Rings - you have to leave so much out to even tell the basic outline that at best you'd have a classroom synopsis.
If I get curious I'll pull it up on streaming. I've been to a theater exactly once in the last couple of years.

Enough is enough with Hollywood raping Greek Mythology! Hercules, the TV show and the Disney cartoon. OMG! Troy. My friends, a friend of mine dragged me forcefully to the cinema to watch this abomination. Afterwards, I felt that I was raped in that theater room. I wanted to beat up all those criminals who transformed Homer's masterpiece to a bunch of crap! And now this disaster! You Hollywood hacks and bastards! Get your filthy claws off of our wonderful mythology!!! I stop here before I say something that will force the admin to kick me out!
That piece of crap, Travis Scott, also ruined the feud between John Cena and Cody Rhodes, going in to Wrestlemania. Oh, and also ruined John Cena’s heel turn as well. What was Christopher Nolan thinking?
i looked up who "zendaya" was, expecting the worst. but i'm not too bothered, she could at least somewhat pass as greek/mediterrenean so not the worst choice imo. remember hades 2 straight up made athena black lmao. so what is it about her that people are so pissed about? is she just uber woke? also does she not have a last name

The odyssey isn't fantasy. For the Greeks, it was an ancient retelling of a famous battle.
Most of the people and places existed back in antiquity.
It'd be like writing a western and describing a walled fort that won't exist in a thousand years.
