I hate this lame era of deconstruction of superheroes because we just can't get anything earnest because the people running the show hate the source material and find so much of it cringe. No wonder they change so much to modernize it, instead of leaning into the original charm and tone of it all. I should have seen this coming when you can't do simple things like have Johnny Storm be a playboy and Reed be smart and masculine. This movie is doomed.
I don't know why the movie, according to all leaks, pretends that every single feature of the Fantastic Four is old and already done when this is the very first movie in the new Marvel lineup. They're doing it with the Moleman flashback with that "You already know the story" uhhhh no I don't think the Moleman ever had a movie unless you count the Incredibles. Like if I watched Star Wars and someone interrupted the very first time someone said, "The Force will be will you, always" to make a snarky comeback about how old and repeated the line is.
Like, at least let me pretend this is a new movie that isn't following in the footsteps of half a dozen ruins.
