Hell, they even added that painfully cringe "I'm gay" scene to Stranger Things despite it not actually meaning anything or supporting the rest of the show.
Also, if she wanted to show all the things they mention, like destroying the myth of the westward expansion, the brutality of life on the frontier, and the stresses of daily life in an untamed land, a greater focus on Native Americans, she shouldn't have done Little House on the Prairie.
The show they want is a skinsuit using Wilder's name and the title of a beloved classic show to try and garner an audience.
I think when people come up with a premise that completely bastardizes the source material, every executive ought to say "No. Stop right there." But to many still pander to "modern audiences" despite the evidence that most of the "modern audiences" don't actually watch those shows and movies.
Case in point: Supergirl. And almost every other movie released this year, and almost any other to be released. I hope to see Odyssey join that list.
