Yet, they would use giving the fans what they don't want as excuse that giving what fans want doesn't work.
They would serve up SGay and act as if after clamouring for Stargate, the people didn't want Stargate.
Even before the particular form of the ills of today shows have been deliberately set up for failure or stabotaged for reasons that don't even reach as deep as some grand mad utopian transhumanist experiment.
Shows have been tanked by sheer pettiness.
Tantrums that even over a show they claimed would fail instead flourishing.
So much fatigue over all of this evil; I'm mostly checked out. Reading books, I control that and re-discovering music. Find my interest in all most all things "Hollywood" or Hollywood adjacent gone.
The networks execs reasoning out capturing the 15-35 is highly flawed today. It mattered far more 30-40 years ago, before the age f the internet and video gaming as it is now. The youth no longer ask for toys from their parents and once young adults themselves they aren't spending what little they have on related merchandise. The best the studio can hope for is views and views does not always equal profit as Disney has learned the hard way.
Amazon has fallen into the same trap much of the video gaming industry has, chasing that big in and ignoring al the small easily profitable wins simply b/c they ONLY care about the big win. Imagine how much less profitable/valuable automakers like Ford and Toyota would be if they sold only the few top of the line cars b/c they fleet the profit in the less expensive vehicles wasn't worth their time. That's exactly how the TV/Film studios/streamers are behaving and how the video game industry has been behaving for a few years.
What's gong to happen with TV/Film is the same that happened to video gaming b/c of this mistake, the smaller indie startups who are more than happy for those small profitable wins are going to take over and in the case of TV/Film , AI is going to make it a lot, and I mean a LOT easier for the every day average creative to enter the race. Long gone are the gate keeping mechanism that ensured the big studios kept competition limited.
What these actions by these foolish executives tell me and many others is that it's true that most executive level people aren't where they are b/c of any real talent or work getting there but b/c of who they know, what families they come from and what colleges they graduated from; the good ole boys club still exists. These executives are allowed to repeatedly make some of the worst and most costly decisions imaginable and still fail upwards. I for one am looking forward to seeing AI help the amateur creatives destroy the major Hollywood studios b/c they deserve it!
The following is from an X account about the shows cancelation and this person IMH perfectly details why the 2 executives behind the shows cancellation need to not simply be told to un-do the shows cancellation but be fire for incompetence.
Amazon executives reasoning for cancelation, seeking the mystical and rarely found 4-quadrant audience is incredibly foolish for content in specific genres like SciFi and Fantasy. Whoever is the top person at amazon, they should be firing these fools who just cost Amazon a lot of $$ in merchandising, let me explain.
Existing SciFi/Fantasy fandoms are made of of the types of people who do more than simply tune in weekly. They buy that various merchandise connected to the IP from toys to trinkets and everything in between and not just the inexpensive stuff either. Old School adult Star War fans don't hesitate to drop hundreds of dollars on a light saber replica.
You know who doesn't invest outside of tuning in? That mythical 4 quadrant audeince. These foolish Amazon execs have sacrificed a smaller but secured fan base that spends serious cash on merchandise to chase the same thing that Disney Star Wars did and lost billions doing it.
The 2 men behind this cancellation at Amazon really do need to be fired for sheer incompetence and for costing the studios money. This mistake will not be the last these 2 make so Amazon, either be prepared to loose money left and right like Disney did or do something about these 2!
Honda motorcycle used to do the same thing in a way, they would cancel bikes that were selling well because they were not selling to the planned demographic. Specifically the NT650 Hawk, that was winning races and still only last.
Too many LGBTQP monsters in Hollywood. Their primary concerns are child molestation and transing kids.
True however in this case I believe ideology had less to do with the shows cancellation then just pure incompetence.

Golden Geese killed to get at the eggs even.
