I don't have a lot of warm feelings for Insurrection. The premise of a planet with rings that radiate magical age-reversing energy... I just couldn't buy into it.

I think most people agree with the utilitarian choice for the fountain of life planet. The Baku weren't indigenous anyway so yes, it should be shared on some level.

And they wound up with a script that sucked even more.

I didn't know about the action scene in the harvester being tacked on until I read this. I rewatched insurrection just a few months ago and I remember thinking how weird the end pacing was and now it makes sense.

So: he watched a flaming faggot throw a tantrum? This is news?

Bland Trek at its mediocretest. Answered its own moral dilemma with the “Featherhead Planet” episode.

Actors, even veteran actors, are human and make mistakes. Sometimes they hit the nail, sometimes not.

Stewart might have done well holding out, but for every success there are a dozen failures.

Of note in the sci-fi genre, Star Wars employed some high-profile actors that absolutely hated the movie and concept. Alec Guiness and Harrison Ford hated everything about Star Wars and were certain the entire thing was going to be a flop - so much so they sapped Lucas' faith in his own story.

No matter how much I thought Insurrection was pointless fluff, I still respect these two.

Actually, I would have liked for Stewart to hold out longer for better quality, but I suppose everyone has to compromise and he knew he got about as good a script as he was going to get.

Why would you respect Patrick Stewart?

Best statement I’ve heard regarding Start Wreck I’ve seen on here in quite a spell. That franchise ended in the late ‘70’s with that first dumb movie. That Muppety 2nd movie that everybody loves is so unironically comical. The fourth movie is better than that hackneyed ham dinner.

Because he’s adapted and the quality of the franchise has gotten worse as they’ve had less control. I know his politics aren’t anything I agree with, and if you look into it, Frakes is just as trash.

I look at ST: Picard as fanservice for a particular groups and a paycheck. They couldn’t have saved it and I don’t hold it against them.
