Writers appear to get the shaft regularly. I recently read a BIO of Jeff Rice, the creator of Carl Kolchak, The Night Stalker. There were two successful television movies about the character. Two television series. One in the early 1970s and one in the early 2000s. Moonstone Books has novelizations of the character, comic books, and other merch. There's even a Funko POP! figure. Jeff Rice died penniless in a trailer.
Writers absolutely do not get the credit they deserve. Actors and directors get praise all the time, deservedly so, but the writer is often overlooked. The best actor in the world needs a script, even for a silent film, and scripts come from writers. If there's no writer, then there's no story. No story, then no movie, no TV series, no book, no graphic novel, no comic book... To paraphrase Shakespeare from Hamlet: "The story's the thing".
Most writers are cuckboy simps. Talentless cronies, nepobabies, trustfund kids, creative writer course hacks and with wga union protection racket they kept getting jobs. Screw screenwriters. Screw actors. Screw hollywood.
I get ABC and Q5 did J. Michael Straczynski dirty, but holy crap. J. Michael Straczynski isn’t making himself any better by going on that rant on Facebook. Not to mention, I don’t think the writers he mentioned, wanted him to go on a rant either.
I think he kinda has a point. Writers get very little respect in Hollywood.
It's kinda too bad. In the comics they get more pull than the artists, which doesn't seem fair either.
He's an asshat, but he ain't wrong. He's a Hall of Fame legend to me purely because he wrote Ulysses 31.
