The key error they make is that while yes, TOS had remarkable diversity, the show was about how the crew *functions*, how they accomplished missions *as a team*. What they are doing now is making the show about watching a handful of diverse characters express their various idiosyncracies, argue and fight each other, and stumble hapless from crisis to crisis.
Especially in the military, but in any crisis, what matters is the mission, not validating each others' quirks.
Like I said, this Star Trek show wasn’t cancelled and written as a tax write off, is because Alex Kurtzman’s contract was most likely, iron clad.
This is a high possibility, but you'd think they could find someway to get it axed.
Geeze. I wish someone would give me millions of dollars to produce crap and destroy a franchise.
waiting for Nick Cole and Jason Anspach to write a StarTrekNotStarTrek series.
