A lot of the problems in the big-money creative professions seem to come from ignoring audiences and instead trying to impress peers by being “progressive” and “pushing boundaries.” Architects do this, too: creating buildings that win architecture awards but which look ugly to most people and are rarely optimum for tenants. Another version of the same problem happens in academia.
With the advent of AI and the rise of the internet and the craze for short YouTube videos Hollywood is dead. It cannot complete with the future of self authorship and publication. Film is merely a snapshot in the long timeline of human story telling.
It really is insufferable what this guy has become. He used to be a man's man, the ideal of masculinity without being an Arnold-like parody. But now he's just an angry, bitter old man yelling at clouds who hates his own roles and it shows.
The point was never to simply empower female heroes, we already had some. The goal was to demolish masculine male heroes. They succeeded spectacularly.
Don't act like Ford didn't have a role in the undoing. He had to willingly participate in this humiliation. I won't ever watch another Harrison Ford movie at the box office even if he finds the Fountain of Youth.
This is why I look to the indy world. Everything cultural has been corrupted by woke idiocy. I am looking forward to based indy films created by A.I. to further erode trad media's monopoly. Has anybody tried creating full cast audio dramas using based indy fiction? I bet A.I. could pull that off.
I’m looking forward to that day too. Have you seen “The Chronicles of Bone” by Kavan the Kid on YouTube? Make sure you watch the prequels before you watch chapter one or you won’t know what’s going on. It’s amazing what can be done with AI these days. I can’t wait to see where we’ll be in 10 years.
