What is Larry Hama even talking about? He is 75 years old but somehow hasn’t grown up. He’s a US citizen so would have no trouble returning to the states. His comment about people of color not having told him he would be fine? That’s the most absurd idiocy I’ve heard uttered. Given his age, perhaps this is dementia setting in. Regardless, it’s further evidence that what really hamstrings comics as an art form is the egotistical, delusional, and immature progressive alarmism of its most prominent creators.
This is a head-scratcher. In addition to being an American citizen, Larry Hama is also a Vietnam era veteran (I do not know if he actually deployed to Vietnam) where he became a firearms and explosive ordnance expert; that experience has added credibility not only to his G. I. Joe comic books but also to his time writing for SAVAGE TALES and THE NAM. His DD-214 ought to be proof enough of his citizenship if he's afraid his passport and V.A. card aren't enough evidence. This is extremely sad to read.
I'm confused. Hamma is claiming he can't retire b/c of the need for $$ but yet he turns down an apearence where these guys make extra money? If he really means what he says then he has mental issues otherwise he's trying to make a political statement w/o being direct about it.
This really speaks to the left-right divide. *All* of his friends, including three lawyers, told him he might not be able to get back because he was "Asian"? That's absolutely nuts, but these people appear to believe this total nonsense.
People irrationally fearful often don't or won't say what really frightens them. They'll mutter semi-plausible excuses.
Having been over that border crossing many times myself, I can attest he’d get more questions on the Canadian side.

Please.... take your Alzheimer's meds and stop acting out like a spoiled child. You whine and cry for clicks. That's it, Larry.

>>I live on my page rate which hasn’t gone up in thirty years.<<
Maybe he should've realized decades ago he made a bad career choice.
They want a cause, to be the resistance. And I just don't care enough to be their comic book villian.

This guy is really stupid.
It would be funny if that happened. He should be deported for what he allowed to be done to G.I. Joe.
