Baldurs Gate seemingly did the impossible in pleasing near every one despite being extremely woke. In making, by all accounts, an actually excellent game, they got to bake their gay cake and got an awful lot of people to eat it too.
It's actually a really intriguing case study that counterpoints a lot of anti-woke content engagement. What can we say to them after challenging "just make a good game" and they delivered? It's much easier to dunk on objectively bad crap like Dustborn and Dragon Age. Which is probably why there wasn't a serious pushback on BG3 despite some truly woke elements.
I'd be genuinely worried if I thought more companies could thread this very narrow needle, but after 10 -15 years and countless flops, it's clear that BG3 is an outlier.
What I find truly ironic though is that HBO is, without doubt, now going to ruin one of the only quality woke works ever made by turning every real and suspected lame and gay element to 11. Even when they win, they can't just let it be.
Oh great, more fake and gay content on television. I never played Baldur's Gay-te 3, refused to do so. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 were good enough. No need to sully the game with gay crap.
