Much like video games have had their “uglification of women” arc, the comic industry has been doing much the same to its female characters in recent years.
I appreciate that this content and discussion exists. The digital domain has fundamentally been patrolled by the leftist / anarchist by default. What is interesting is how devoid any honest discussion of ideas is becoming regardless of one's perspective. Logic is uninteresting to seemingly anyone on Google's default forum partner, Reddit, as emotionally driven, reactivist, drive-by commentary results in entirely inauthentic communication and connection. And Truth social suffers from much of the same on the antithetical side. At least, however, when I bring up the idea that groupthink is dangerous on Truth social, people often agree and adjust their perspective (repentance) accordingly.
These unintended consequences of digital content are a bit baffling to me to be honest. If I were getting my doctorate today, this is likely the direction I would take my thesis. The innate inauthenticity of digital-first communication and the impact to the body politic sociopolitically over time.
I hope they have "fans" (read--buying customers) lined up, because the fans they "inherited" are all walking away from this crap. There is a certain kind of "literature," written by women best described as "curvy," in which they force readers to join them in their sexual fantasies, always with men they'd have no chance in heck getting in real life. These books exist only for that reason, certainly not to entertain readers. Now we have comics created solely for their creators in which they live out their own sick fantasies, for instance, having Batman snap the necks of ICE agents, etc. The problem is, every time we allow them to treat Batman this way, we bring down his inherent commercial value. That goes for all these characters. What makes Batman Batman? What makes Harley Quinn Harley Quinn? You can't just slap those names on any creation you like and call it a "treatment."
That's all the Left knows: to destroy, make ugly and vulgar. Bereft of God they lack morality and any understanding of beauty.
Is anyone surprised? It's the next logical progression for a "liberated woman":
1) Rob her of her tragic backstory by "freeing" her from the Joker's manipulation,
2) make her strong and independent but with no other new traits to help redefine her,
3) make her a lesbian,
4) and now make her ugly so her visual design repels "the male gaze".
Next up, 5) turns out she's trans (doesn't matter which direction)
It's all a joke. Everyone is laughing at them.

They're turning Batman into freaking Marshal Law. He isn't too far from saying, "I'm a hero hunter. I hunt heroes. I haven't found any yet."
