Director Doug Liman will reportedly reteam with star Tom Cruise for a sequel to their sci-fi thriller Edge of Tomorrow in 2026.This Substack is reader-supported.
The movie is good. It’s based a single short novel called “All You Need Is Kill” by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. I really enjoyed the movie but I doubt a sequel will be any good. The movie covered all the material and ideas in the book. So if there is a sequel, the new story will be a 100% Hollywood creation. I’m betting the sequel will be pretty meh.
“Released in 2014, (Edge of Tomorrow) grossed about $370 million worldwide against a $178 million budget, performing well but not reaching blockbuster status.”
With everything going on in the world, THIS is what made you flip out? 😄
As long you enjoyed it, why would you care what anyone else thinks?
Any movie that has Tom Cruise killed again and again is worth watching.
Critical Drinker did a solid review of it:

Was the first one any good? I don't normally watch H-wood movies.
Yes.

I enjoyed the movie. It was far better than I expected. However, it needs no sequel.
Definitely one of my favorite Sci-fi movies ever.
Emily Blunt for the win!!!
Finally an upcoming movie I really want to see, still gonna watch at home though. This is great!
A rather mid "who cares?" needed.
Which makes no sense because Edge of Tomorrow was a huge hit movie. Cool story though, bro!
