Now that's a welcome surprise. I wonder what did it - the Denuvo DRM or the Day-1 DLC. Could also be the high price for a short single player campaign and multiplayer nobody cares about. I recently tried Eternal and it's a step back from Doom 2016. I can imagine Dark Ages following this pattern.

Anyone that thinks Doom 2016 is better than Eternal has a skill issue and needs to play every game on Journalist mode.

Let’s not pretend that you liked it more because it wasn’t significantly easier than Eternal and you could autopilot every encounter.

Just a matter of preference. I enjoyed Eternal, but I didn't care for the small ammo cap or the platforming sections.

The previous entry, Doom Eternal, made the game much harder than it needed to be. Part of the fun of the original doom games and Doom 2016 was being able to carve a path of unmitigated death and dismemberment wherever you went in quick succession. Doom Eternal made it painstakingly difficult to achieve the same results and you couldn't get through an average encounter without dying multiple times, even on easier difficulties. While I enjoy harder games (like SoulsBorne), this franchise wasn't designed to be difficult.

As much as people praised Doom Eternal, it took the franchise in a far less enjoyable direction, and I think that's part of why we're seeing these results.

The problem was they made everything have like one or two specific counters you were supposed to use to be effective. It ended up making the game have a stronger challenge loop at the cost of making the fights feel repetitive. Doom 2016 was a lot more fun because you got to enjoy the violent chaos.

No way. Doom 2016 was a dull repetitive mess that came down to the same arena fight loops that turned into the exact same results. All the enemies and design decisions in Eternal are way more interesting, fun and creative. By limiting ammo and forcing you to switch up your weapons, use all your skills, environmental awareness and gadgets, it makes for a much more satisfying game than abusing the same overpowered weapon and strategy the entire game.

Sorry, but this is definitely a skill issue on your end. And this franchise has always been difficult and had a lot more clever and thoughtful design between enemy/weapon/level design. Go play Doom on Ultra-Violence without using save in the middle of a level or using cheats and come back to me.

I've played through Soulsborne multiple times. You have no argument.

Soulsborne games are a joke compared to actually tough games. They can be grinded and all the enemy patterns are telegraphed with very conveniently long invincibility frames. Dude, there’s a reason those games sell tens of millions. Let’s not pretend that they aren’t games for normies.

Go play Doom I and II pistol start, go play Ninja Gaiden Sigma, go play Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die, then talk. Don’t pull that Dork Souls nonsense when you and a zillion others have beat it. Puh-leeze.

Watched Doctor Disaster on youtube this morning,.He reported that there's nothing but a game key code on the physical disc, you have to download the whole game from the store, that's a no buy from me.

Well duh. The Game us a full price DLC of the last two Games AND exclusively on this Generation of Console.

They reused SO MANY Assets in this Game, and had FIVE YEARS to make it. That is a Main Line Bethesda Game time frame such as Skyrim or Fallout 4.

Then you realize all they did was add in a few new weapons like a Chainsaw Shield and Bone Gun thing, and then a few Mecha Levels and Dragon Levels.

The Game is trash and I knew it from the first Trailer. It's a full price DLC just like GoW Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West were........

I'll do a walkthrough for my gaming channel, but I'm really not feeling it.

Playing it on the Xbox Series X. It is a great Doom game. Just what I expected. I got it "free" with Gamepass. No complaints from me.

Hmm. I wonder why. Seems like a rocking good game if you're fast with your reflexes.

I'm too old for it; turn based stuff for me.

Maybe because the notorious DEBRA WILSON voiced a character in it. I doubt that was the cause of the weak showing, but never underestimate burnout.

The criticisms I’ve seen:

-It has Denuvo

-No multiplayer

-The price is too high for what you get (especially when compared to other recent releases like Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscure)

-Does not feel like a Doom game, but a safe “by the numbers” shooter

-The controversy with Mick Gordon
