So many important ways to include the achievements of people who were not heads-of-state, especially in this particular area.

Early in the CIV franchise I was showing a friend how it plays and he commented with an arched eyebrow, "No slavery?"

"That's easy," I replied. "Remember how I captured that enemy worker? Slaves."

"OK, but no 'emancipation' as a cultural achievement? For slaves and for peasants? You get a farm bonus for feudalism but not for yeoman farmers? Private property? Free labor?"

He was right of course and all of his skepticism suggested there was a non-stupid way to do this. But when coders struggle with whether Collective Farms should make your agriculture as productive as Corporate Farming because they don't like the taste it leaves in their mouths (regardless of how crunchy, salty, and otherwise delicious it may be), you have a problem.

Tubman should be a "great person" that gives you huge advances toward abolition and equal suffrage. Don't even get me started on Fredrick Douglass, MLK jr, and other great Americans.

Or Harriet could be a named-spy who is particularly affective at siphoning people away from adjacent civs that haven't achieved emancipation. And don't forget non-Americans! How about a special English Frigate capability after Abolition that allows them to capture barbarian and non-emancipated ships at a bonus, plus gives them diplomatic favor each time they do it?

HAVE SOME IMAGINATION FOLKS!

Have you seen the price of this game? Absolutely no way am I spending any money on this trash. Older games are better anyways.
