Angel Studios released Young Washington on July 3, 2026, and it opened to $20.8 million over the holiday weekend — the studio’s second-highest live-action opening ever, behind only the animated David, and ahead of Sound of Freedom’s $19.6 million three-day debut.
I saw this movie on the third of July and loved it. It is by far the best movie I saw this year. The other two movies were also good, Hail Mary and Michael. But this was so moving and stirring it is by far the best. You can see the hand of God on Washington just like we have seen it on Trump. You and the dark Herald saved me from going to Animal farm and I thank you for that.
They have another potential dud coming up. The Brink of War has a great concept about an important, maybe THE important moment in the Reagan administration, but stars ultra progressive Jeff Daniels.
The audience might be there because Reagan and all, but I hate that it enriches and supports someone who clearly would have been shouting down Reagan should they have crossed paths.
I totally understand why you’re not a fan of Jeff Daniels’ attitude. Believe me, Jeff Daniels’ deranged behavior also does drive me away from a movie and tv show he’s in.
Those were both created in a different era when people weren't so virulently opposite. Back then more proggies were like Bill Maher and could be talked with without getting blasted with actual lies informed by TDS.
These days I've gotten past the point where I can ignore the artist for the sake of the art. Probably because the artist has started infusing themselves into the art and spoiling.
Maybe that won't be the case here. I am not going to hold my breath. I think it would have been kinda awesome to ask Dennis Quaid to reprise his role from the Reagan movie, but I guess he doesn't have the same gravtias.

Thanks, I correct :)
Regan makes me think of The Exorcist. 😁
Daniels was good as Joshua Chamberlain in GETTYSBURG and GODS & GENERALS. If the actor is good in his role I will ignore his persona offscreen.

There's a fairly brilliant article by Bad Cattitude on artists then vs. now. Might be relevant (and is definitely enjoyable).

Good to hear about Young Washington.
It's bizarre that Serkis was involved with both this and the lame Animal Farm.
Wondering if this is a "push and pull" tactic. One woke movie, one based movie, then it becomes two woke movies, a based one, and then so on.
Yes, 10 years of exposure to woke made me cynical.
Could be; who knows. I hope & pray it doesn't go that way, but it's hard to tell. Bad ideologies are in the air we breathe.
Nice.
