Lucasfilm’s latest live-action Star Wars series on Disney+, Andor Season 2, failed to chart on Luminate’s top streaming originals for television chart for the week of April 18th through the 24th.This Substack is reader-supported.
“But I mean, we have limits on what we can do. We are very aware of what we can do sexually and violence wise. Those limits are made very clear.”
Translation: “We are shifting the Overton Window to the left. We are pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable and what is not, and over time, we will shift public opinion.”
The Left has been playing the long game for decades. This is just another example.
If you look at the numbers, it's pretty obvious that it probably wasn't the story, so much as the fact that it was a Disney+ show. For a Disney+ show to chart, people would have to watch Disney+. There is only so much anyone who buys Disney+ for their kid to watch Bluey, and people on free trials are going to watch anything. No one is buying Disney+ for fake Star Wars, fake Marvel, or anything else. Once the free trial is over, it's Bluey and people who forget to cancel.
Andor is brilliant Star Wars needed to grow up. I really don't understand the fuss about the rape scene. We see people die in Star Wars all the time which is something that people have become desensitised to. Rape is awful but so is war and murder yet we allow people to be exposed of all ages to people being murdered or killed in combat.
It shows an lived in world which actually was done well in the original trilogy with the Catina scene. It's the best thing since the empire strikes back (previously Rogue one had this title) and shows how evil the empire is. There are people online talking about the viewership who haven't even seen the show and some just don't have the patience to consume it. This is honestly one of the best shows and is far more relevant to todays society than any other star wars show.
We are not all the product of watching cringe shows, however.
Once again, the progressives are proving the aphorism of “there’s no such thing as bad press” wrong. They just can’t help to melt their audience like an ice cube underneath the launch of a SpaceX rocket.

May this pretentious woke slop fade into irrelevance.

I liked Andor. The show was adult without being preachy. It had a good arc. It didn't need a rape episode.
But it's Disney and Disney doesn't give a shit anymore.
How in the world is The Last of Us not on that list?
The story live with Bix and the lot. Lots of talk about visas, illegals and papers... seems a little on the nose.
