To be honest, one of the less-objectionable race-swaps I've seen is that of a Caribbean pirate. There were a certain number of escaped slaves and local natives in the trade, as it were. What I'm sure they will not do is re-shape the character to reflect attitudes and opportunities of the time, it's far too likely it will just be another modern black activist being preachy.
If this was in animated format, or Anime format, then it would make sense. But in live action? There’s going to be criticism. And wouldn’t the Woke Left also cry ‘racism’ over the casting of David Oyelowo as a pirate?
If they wanted to make a movie about a Black pirate captain, why not just make a film about Black Caesar rather than turn yet another white character black?
I wonder why these idiotic woke studios don’t simply create new content instead of intentionally pissing everyone off every time they destroy original content.
