Let D&D die and stay in the grave for a few years. Then relaunch with the 3.5 ruleset. This monster that WoTC is creating can't function in this world.
While Hasbeen/WotC is committed to swimming with the gacha game sharks as a digital exclusive, there are plenty of actual physical tabletop opportunities with the shills of WotC exiting the space. There's the bonus of VTT with some of these properties as well.
ACKS II, Ascendant, Old School Essentials, Swords & Wizardry, Dungeon Crawl Classics, and many, many more Independent games from the real gaming communities easily take the place of WotC 5.x.
The only thing that they are missing is the D&D logo, and that's not worth spit these days.
