That Shatner reaction was edited in. The original is from 3 years ago and found here:

But, easily applies here, too.

Strange New Worlds had so much potential, but the entire concept is awful. It is political, trendy, woke, and an absolute waste of some decent actors and a franchise that could have been great. The entire show is an insult to the original, but what can one expect from people who have no loyalty or respect for the original?

There are ways to parody an icon that make you laugh, that are generous and leave you with a nostalgic feeling about the original despite poking fun at the foibles. This parody was mocking and felt not just ungenerous, but disrespectful, petty, and downright hateful. So, Shatner's right to wonder what in the world they're trying to do.

Shatner is Spot On.

Strange New Worlds is the least offensive of the New Trek out.

I got a laugh out of Wesley trying to imitate Shatner. Shatner is wrong, Wesley did a passable early James Kirk.

Shatner's right about one thing. This isn't his Star Trek. In some ways it's better and in some ways it's worse. Shatner did three live seasons of Trek, two animated, and 5 movies as Kirk.

The new shows have fewer episodes which makes the bad ones stand out.

Alas it would certainly be applicable today but it is from 3 years ago as previously stated. And now other sites are picking up this article as true but it isn't
