They might have made more money if they labeled it Troon, instead.

"Toppling the MAGA supercomputer from within." I dunno. Are there enough septum rings out there to do better than 33 mill?

This is hilarious. Disney failures are like manna from Heaven for me, and I hope they just keep coming. We already know Wonder Man is going to be a massive upcoming flop, even if the clown commentors over at Den of Geek think otherwise.

They could have done the exact same cgi as the origonal. Saved a ton of money and had the same estetic. The bait and switch would have work better.

Fundamentally, while one COULD do a good story of digital beings going into meatspace, it's adding an extra burden of writing to writers that already likely have very little talent to bear any burden. Haven't seen the film, haven't read anything about the story, even in better times, with better makers, a Tron movie not set inside the world of computers is a tough sell...

In the first place, Tron's the kind of character that's super easy to recast too, so there's really no excuse for not having him.

Having the old actor likely would have done nothing to save this film.

The appeal, the fantasy of entering a digital world where the workings of computer are anthropomorphized is similar to that of another setting that crops up now and again, the settings where the inner workings of man himself are a world of cells as people.

It's really making things unreasonably difficult to go from Wonderland to England. A usually pointless journey.

Awww. Too bad. Tron: Arse--The Tron with NO Tron plowed it's light cycle into the grid wall. The DVD won't even be worth the buck a pawn shop would charge for it.

Wasn't Tron not that popular, mainstream wise, to begin with? That makes alienating their already niche fans obvious suicide. Like getting rid of dwarves in Dwarf Fortress or something.

I couldn't believe how bad TRON: AREAS was. It doesn't serve as a proper continuation of LEGACY nor is it a sound spin off from the original and just not connected to LEGACY. Its truly a bastard film. I have to wonder if the casting of Jared Leto wasn't intentional with regards to his past. One could easily see this film as being a female empowerment movie since most of the male characters are dumb and or villains while all the women are strong bad assess. I admit it is a bit of a leap but this film doesn't have any valid just reasons to exist that I can see unless it was about trying to slowly feminize the IP. This film they replace the ones running the companies with women and perhaps in the next, if they get a next film, they'll replace the male ARES with some gender bending AREAS or go straight for the strong woman of color. I was fully expecting AREAS 2nd in charge to be the champion at the end.

In any event its very, VERY disappointing.
