It comes down to two overall worldviews. There’s the woke/DEI/“social justice” side, which sees individuals as members of groups. They want to balance the groups, which requires a maze of double standards that ignore merit and individual justice. Then there’s the traditional Enlightenment liberal/Constitutional/MAGA/common sense side, which believes in merit, colorblindness, and individual justice (the only real kind).
While woke is not exactly dead, its spell has been broken. More people are willing to reject the double standards and group “justice,” and now the DOJ is on their side.
The civil rights movement was about reaffirming that black people had the same rights as everyone else. We were to judge by character, not skin color. But that's no longer a thing, now it's race only which determines the outcome.
