Back when I was in Hollywood, they considered the script a locked item. It was carefully crafted and approved at ALL levels. Essentially, the producer could ask for a change, but instances where scripts are altered are (were) very rare.

What SMG did in this interview is called DAMAGE CONTROL and has no relation to reality. This is a "spin" of the truth.

So, I call BS.

She's trying to stop people realising how dogsh1t this thing was. Their feminist narrative of "men bad men cancelled this unfairly" must be protected at all costs. They can't bring themselves to admit THEY F'D UP. But thats women for you.

I sent Chloe Zhao some bananas.

I'll be honest -- I'd've thought long and hard about watching the show at all. As much as I loved Buffy -- in fact, because I loved Buffy -- I've seen too many revivals that are so poor that they manage to somehow make the original series/films worse, retroactively.

So, no worries SMG, I won't go near the pilot script.

That doesn't sound unreasonable. Maybe they axed the horrid dialogue from that early draft.

Even if the final pilot would have had a reworked script with different dialogue, the leaked script clearly shows whose spiritual child the show would have been. The leajed script shows the maximum dosis of the poison that would have killed the show, a reworked one would have just stretched out the suffering. Good thing it leaked, good thing the show got scrapped.
