Rob Colletti, who plays Wapol in Netflix’s second season of One Piece, issued a statement in response to criticism of Charithra Chandran being cast as Nefertari Vivi aka Miss Wednesday. This Substack is reader-supported.
"...how certain small (but far too vocal) corners of the One Piece fandom can watch a rubber pirate, a reindeer doctor, and giant walking, talking fish and be totally fine..."
then make the "rubber pirate" metal, the "reindeer doctor" a platypus, and the "walking, talking fish" a spider.
oh, right: because (((they))) don;t hate rubber, reindeers, or fish.
Could have just taken the high road. It would have been so easy to just go "hey I hear you are concerned, but [actress] is really great and [creator] gave his blessing. Watch and let the performance win you over". Instead... well this. Again antagonizing fans. If you want civil and onbjective discourse, how on earth do you want to achieve it if you constantly show you are not capable of it yourself the moment anyone says something that is offensive to you? Even if it is.not directed at you?! Man, what happened to sticks and stones?
Then why wasn't Oda's original portrayal of her ethnic?
fuckin stupid nigs, SMH.

Your less than a two sentences version is a better response than the lengthy paragraphs with random capitalizated words.
That diatribe, in combination with the odd capitalization, screams mental case.
and projection.
Should have led up to it with pieces by Oda, and only drop the skin-color change later.
Not buying what they're trying to sell.
