Actor Joe Manganiello, known for his role as Alcide Herveaux in True Blood and Deathstroke in Justice League seemingly teased that a live-action Dragonlance might be back on the board. This Substack is reader-supported.
I wish Hasbro would’ve parted ways with Dragonlance and given it to Joe. He’s got the passion for the series that Henry Cavill has got for Warhammer 40K.
I didn't know who this guy was prior to the whole Dragonlance thing a year or two ago.
And then he ruined a Heroquest expansion: "Joe Manganiello presents Joe Manganiello's Crypt of Perpetual Darkness, a Heroquest game expansion by Joe Manganiello"
If there's an exaggeration in there, it's only a little. His name and his particular "style" was all over that product. The writing was awful, the value minimal (not even 1/3 of the content of other similarly priced expansions), but somehow, the art direction was even worse.
Heroquest has a classic art style of late 80's Fantasy. The new version paid respect to that and faithfully reproduced that style for elements new and old.
Not Joe Manganiello.
Joe Manganiello had to have his own style of card art and design for Joe Manganiello's Heroquest expansion. It's ugly, the text is unreadable and scribbled on the card like the SPonGebOB mEMe. And it no way matches what came before or after.
I am in not surprised that Joe Manganiello has his own "awesome" new take on dragons. (I shudder to think.) I am also not surprised that Joe Manganiello said that everyone loved Joe Manganiello's script for Joe Manganiello's Dragonlance.
Read through his statement again. The guy is an absolute egomaniac who gets off on telling everyone how great he is.
Mark my words.
If this project gets made, it won't be Dragonlance as we collectively know it. It will be Joe Manganiello's Dragonlance, brought to you by Joe Manganiello.
What's it gonna be called? Dragons of Pride June?
I am truly hopeful for this one

I don't want a live action dragonlance. Somebody will fuck it up and it'll ruin one of my favorite series.
No, I do not trust them... Get the name DragonLance out your F*cking Mouth! *slap* :)
Dragqueen Lance.
No thanks.
Anything D&D is toxic poison. Might as well drink and eat what's in a triple-used toilet.

Funny how what was essentially fantasy slop seems great by today's standards.
How dare you.
