Why do they give this man the keys to the lockbox, knowing he's going to destroy the ip?

Anything touched by a Tom King story becomes cancer.

That is all.

Will I take my kids to see this? No I will not.

Another generation lost to them.

I never watched Pedo's Superman, so there's no way I'll watch this filth. The good news is that it sounds like when the Paramount merger is complete, Pedo will be shown the door.

Is Supergirl going to even be in it? James Gunn's Superman was barely in his own film. I kept feeling like the actor was out sick or something, so everyone else in the cast had to kick in to keep the show going. Time was spent on plot points that really held no interest, like Jimmy Olsen's supposed sex appeal. It was supposed to be funny, I guess, but it came off as hard to believe when it wasn't disgusting.

Every time I see this version of supergirl I think of that Ke$ha video, Tik Tok.

One big problem here is that Gunn is looking to entertain an audience but that audience no longer appreciates the source material. A character like Supergirl is likely unknown to today's target audience. They are not comic book readers from the past, like us geezers. They are younger and have little knowledge of how the original heroes and heroines were originally written. New audiences allegedly like grittier, darker and so-called edgier stories thus we are flooded with movies populated by foul mouthed, murdering anti-heroes instead of uplifting and moral superheroes so that is what folks like Gunn provide.

Gunn and King and other directors and writers just use known characters to tell different stories and in the process completely mangle the characters' backgrounds. It removes their lore amd destroys what makes them interesting. With a B team like the Guardians of the Galaxy, it works since few folks were invested in those comics. All three of those films were pretty good. Superman and Supergirl, however, are established and well-known. Gunn's style fails them and gives us tales that simply do not fit with what we know about the characters.

As long as he makes money, Gunn will be allowed to make movies that abuse the source material. That is how Hollywood works and I do not see it ever changing.
