Star Wars was for families because of its universal messages. It had enough themes to keep the adults interested and any more challenging moment could easily be explained to the kids watching. This is where the prequels also failed with the complex themes they tried to convey - politics, romance and even bureaucracy. They are movies to watch on your own as an adult. Disney Star Wars on the other hand is for nobody - they push in current day politics with awful characters and no story to be attached to.

Believe it or not, you can tell a story directed toward adults without having sex, sexual assaults, and LGBT+ nonsense.

Disney needs to stop pushing the nonsense.

George made it for 12 year olds. They kept targeting that b/c the merchandise sales proved this was the right market segment to go after.

IN terms of adult themes, ANDOR was always meant to be targeted towards more adult minds. In ROTJ, Jabba tried to semi assault one of his sex slaves before tossing her to the pitt so its not as if George never came close to this kind of topic.

It's worth remembering that 'made for kids' has changed a bit. The original film did show scorched human skeletons and a bloody severed arm. I'm reminded of fairy tales, how the originals were often rather gory, and even Disney's original Snow White had some rather frightening moments (at least for the audience of the day). The idea that 'made for kids' must only have sweetness and light insulated from all 'adult' issues is a fairly recent trend. To be sure, the current idea that 'made for kids' must show all the latest sex quirks is stupid and evil; no doubt about that - but the problem is more that they are pushing corruption, at the cost of making a fun adventure that everyone can enjoy.

I'd also quibble that Star Wars (before it became "A New Hope') was not made for kids - it was made for the wide audience. The SW brand became much more for kids over the years, pushed by toy sales - and the fact that the prequels were kicked off by focusing on the story of...a kid. I also rather suspect that part of the problem was/is that Hollywood typically treats all IP with contempt and always has, they just used to keep their attitude to themselves in order to keep the audience happy.
