MH's return in France has been flat, a failure, yet another rehash. Without a Drouillet or a Moebius, it is DOA, expensive. Annoyed, too, at the muddiness of the colors.
If the editors have the sense to realize that woke crap is no longer profitable, and they produce something comparable to the original in quality, then I'm all for it. I enjoyed reading Heavy Metal back in the 1980s. But I'll wait for reviews by people I trust before deciding whether to buy the new version.
Even if there ain't any woke shit here, you're big issue is that the mag may just end up being filled with stories and art that are just inferior versions of past glories. It's the rehash problem all over again.
Hopefully it will be good, but we've seen a lot of nostalgiabait flop because of inadequacy.
I love the idea and can hardly wait for it. I've been following the new French METAL HURLANT as well, and now with HEAVY METAL also being kinda resurrected, I feel like I'm back to my youth years. That's pretty cool!

It's got all the right memberberries on the cover to suck in past fans.
Not gonna bite.

Imma gonna get a copy but I doubt anything like the original Heavy Metal could survive in the current year.
Time to get out the dusty DVD and rewatch the movie.
I want this to be good, please let this be good.
"The team on the Discord server said that the first new magazine would not appear until 2024, giving a long lead-up to their eventual return."
It IS 2024, though.
Fing love Heavy Metal magazine.
I still have a bunch of originals stashed in my library. Seems like a lifetime ago now, I guess because it is.

I miss the old days, but I'm guessing a rehash isn't going to satisfy
Pattern recognition is very good for spotting skinwalkers, and for any doubts time reveals all.
Approaching this with GREAT trepidation.
Heavy Metal, and its French progenitor, Metal Hurlant, were very much products of their times, and those times have passed.
As, sadly, have most of the creators who made both magazines notable.

Monitoring the situation
Based on what 2022-2024 has brought us, you are likely to need an Alka-Seltzer or two when this version comes out.
