I never read George RR Martin nor will I ever read his works. However, him developing spinoffs and prequels to Game of Thrones is pretty much him conceding to the fact that he can't finish the series off, nor will he ever do so. But why finish it, when you can continue to play in the sandbox of the world you have built while simultaneously avoiding bringing the main story in thay world to a close. He loves his world, but he can't bring a good closure to Game of Thrones so he is writing stories set in his world of Game of Thrones as a compromise.

My wife bought me the first five book collection.

I started the first book. Could not finish. It was poorly written and structured. Maybe I just couldn't grasp his style, but it felt... jumbled.

I'm no fan of Stephen King, but at least his (or his wife's) writing is smoother, makes more sense, and is structured to be very readable.

So I just have one question, and forgive me if I seem dense, but how can you have a sequel to a story that isn't finished?

You just don't understand Mr Martin's genius.

Ok just kidding on that, but really, a time skip forward or back would solve a lot of problems for him. Problems he created by writing.

I just want an end to the story, lol, I didn't even mind the ending of the TV show, it was just really rushed and not earned. Could have been much better done if it had been given time to breathe.

No thank you, Mr. Martin. As far as I am concerned, you can keep your prequels and sequels and one-off stories from the Song of Fire and Ice to yourself. I am not interested in them. Finish the bloody story and mayhaps I shall read it.
