Agreed.. A few series have managed to pack 10 ish episodes with a lot of story and growth but too many of them just seem like a 6 to 8 hour long episode with a lot of filler and politics.
I very much miss 20+ episode seasons. They gave the actors, writers, and crew a reliable annual income.
