Companies in 2010: "We have to move to digital. Selling at retail doesn't make enough profit, so we'd have to charge a lot more unless we go to downloads.."
Companies in 2025: "We don't just sell shiny discs at retail anymore, so obviously a lot of our prices have to be raised."
They could reduce the base prices and I still wouldn't buy anything from EA.
They have no choice in the short term. They must pander to soaking the Live Service aspect of their business.

Yeah, well, I'm not paying $80 for a game. I don't even pay $80 for a book, and I can read a book over and over again.
