Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman confirmed that Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte series was scrapped because the viewership was too low for how much it cost.Fandom Pulse is a reader-supported publication.
It was an awful show! It was poorly written, poorly executed, and badly acted (except for Lee Jung-Jae). The issue was not racism, bigotry, or sexism, which some cast members and producers used to defend poor performance. Over 180 Million for a show that seemed to have been written by a twelve-year-old wannabe writer and produced by people on an absolute amateur level.
I never felt my intelligence insulted so much as by The Acolyte.
It’s incredibly narcissistic and arrogant of these d grade actors to actually think the film is about them as people. We don’t give a toss about your politics or woke ideology we just want to watch an amazing film with great script and actors, clearly in woke media we can’t have that as it’s waycist.
Reading out what Amandla actually said makes it so much worse. It is not clear to me that she even knows what she is talking about.
Also, I am not sure that Disney calling the fans racist does anything but cause people to mock them. On a podcast I like, they talked about progressivism as being like, I want to speak to your manager politics. It's wild to me that Jodie thinks Disney has any real power over the fans.
Additionally, this reveals that the tactics these people rely on for intra group conflict dont work when applied to the real world. Calling Star Wars fans racist for not watching your show does not, in fact, compel them to watch your show. I have seen this critique with the most recent Charlie's Angels film by Elizabeth Banks where she originally said it was only for women/feminist film and then chastised men for not seeing it. (Not unlike the WNBA). The film did very badly.
Did you think for even a minute that Amanda Steinberg is a functioning adult capable of self reflection and honor? She lives in a world steeped in faux oppression and complaining. This is not a normal adult and certainly not one who has a selfless motivation.
Wake up, Disney. Nobody wants to watch this crap. You can’t make us. With online reviewers to alert us, we can avoid all your lame and pathetic woke BS. Yay for us! Let your spoiled, out-of-touch writers and actors go masturbate somewhere else. Ha ha ha.
It was an absolutely disasterous crapshow of catastrophic proportions. But I'm just going to skip all that and save my energy by agreeing with the insufferable Ms. Stenberg on one vital thing: yes, let's VOTE. And VOTE we did! America has been made GREAT again!
People who demonstrate narcissism and thin skin and are largely incapable of humility will always blame others for their own failures. Further they cannot accept actual reality since they derive power over others through a false reality constructed for themselves.
One thing never discussed at the constant underperformance or outright failure of these DEI projects is that a large part of the failure is because NEGROES CAN’T ACT.
They’re HORRIBLE actors. Being so low-IQ, they lack the imagination of fictional circumstances necessary to provoke a full range of emotion within themselves. That’s why most black actors you see are in a constant monotonousness state of some degree of anger, i.e., mild frustration and annoyance through to hostility, because that’s ALL the negro can summon up. Anger and its degrees are the easiest emotion to conjure, it’s the easiest emotion to physically signal.
The whole thing just read like a nightmare. They've got what going on for a storyline and the actors sound like nutjobs and they're getting politically invested. I haven't even seen it or heard about it but this review makes me realize why nobody liked it. They ought to get some mature people there. You used to not be so outwardly self conscious especially about being "avant garde". You either have a vision or you're borrowing one and wanting the rewards.
The sub-Mary Daly, preachy 1970s lesbian witch coven with its Wicker Man pastiche folk songs and mid-90s US Episcopal Church call and response experimental worship might have put some people off. I just found those parts funny. But what got me shaking my head was the promotion of tired old relativism. Yawn.
The writers were patently trying to promote the idea that good and evil are in the eye of the beholder. The dark side isn’t evil, it’s just another lifestyle choice. From the Sith point of view, it’s the Jedi military parade that looks like Nuremberg. Embracing the Dark Side isn’t to be consumed and corrupted with rage and the will to dominate: it’s a bit of sexy teen rebellion against the square old patriarchy.
Trying to do a Joker/Harley Quinn job on a franchise which is predicated on the defeat of darkness by light, which is about a war (as the franchise title might suggest) between good and evil, isn’t going to work. Tatooine ain’t no Gotham City. Star Wars is successful because the good guys win. Mess with that formula, and it’s over.

Objectively bad show

Lol so NOT because we are all assholes?

I did like the baddy’s mask, though.
