Anti-ICE Daniel Warren Johnson's Absolute Batman Annual Is Out And The Cringe Is Worse Than We Thought

We knew that Daniel Warren Johnson was going to come out with an issue of Absolute Batman fighting “white supremacists,” coded as an attack against the right in America, after he made his promotional sketch of Batman killing an ICE Agent, but the setup is so insultingly stupid that it’s unbelievable.

In the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination, one would think the left would tone down the rhetoric at places like DC Comics, but we learned from Absolute Martian Manhunter writer Deniz Camp that they’re never told to tone down their extremist political messaging in the mainstream industry. Now, Absolute Batman has gone so far woke it’s beyond unbelievable.

Daniel Warren Johnson has been hailed by comic readers and critics alike because of his recent Transformers run, where he relaunched the Hasbro toys as part of a new universe that’s combined with GI Joe. As such, he’s been getting pushed into bigger spaces like the Absolute Batman line at DC Comics, which has been comics’ bestseller over the last year and a half.

A couple of weeks before his issue was supposed to release, he went viral for posting a sketch where his Absolute Batman was shown killing an ICE Agent, going mask off as to his insane, violent rhetoric. This followed an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, where he was said to be incredibly mad at the way the nation was going, and bragging that his new Absolute Batman annual would be a screed against “white supremacy.”

The issue has now come out, and it’s more ridiculous than we even could have imagined, with a ham-fisted plot and caricatures that act nonsensically, as one would expect from a leftist lunatic.
