Andy Weir, the bestselling author of The Martian and Project Hail Mary, used a Reddit AMA on r/IAmA under his longtime username u/sephalon to take direct aim at three of the most controversial endings in modern television.
My thought was Space 2099. Instead of a nuclear dump that blows up propelling the moon out of the earths orbit, I would have said it was an experimental jump drive. The jumps would be to the gravity well of other planets, the reason could be an underlying mystery over the season. Was it because of a malfunction, sabotage or by design. Did the jump drive interact with something ancient already on the moon...
The series still would need to be episodic in nature like the original (and the original Star Trek). OK, now it is beginning to sound like Stargate Universe. Which I think I am one of the few people that preferred it to any of the other series. Maybe not that dark with Space 2099.
Also I would say that if they hire who ever did the model work for the movie Moon, Anderson fans will be eternally grateful. Heck, Rockwell might even make a good Cmdr Koenig.
Film Artemis, hand it to AI and let the AI "reshoot" in 1/16 G. Redub as necessary.
That was my thought as well, get it right and then use the technique to reboot Space 1999.
I guess we'd have to call Space 1999 Space 2050 or something at this point.

I like this guy. I hope he doesn't eventually capitulate to Hollywood scum.

Personally, I find it really ironic and a little bit funny that Andy Weir would spend any of his time attacking another artists work.

"Artemis" was a terrible book, though.
