Amazon's Audible has rolled out changes that devastate independent authors while masquerading as improvements, according to fantasy reviewer Daniel Greene, who received detailed information from publishing industry veteran Robin J.
I warned everyone about this back in 2021. It's basically Audible Unlimited, and that combined with the automated AI-audiobooks will kill off the audiobook market.
I want to get behind this, and it does affect me, it's that when I see how traditional publishing compared to authors today I have a hard time going straight to Defcon 6

More and more, I'm thinking of leaving the Amazonkindle box unchecked when I submit a novel to D2d/ingram.
Amazon has always been cheap.
A big platform using shady tactics that short creators?
I've never heard of such a thing!
I stopped KU long ago. Just wasn't worth it for me. Most of those readers wanted to read for free - not find a new author and buy the backlist.
When I stopped KU entirely, my income tripled. I make more $$$s selling physical paperbacks every month than I ever made at my peak within KU.
Audible? Never bothered to consider it beyond immediate dismissal.
Is my experience for everybody? Course not.
But this just shows any Amazon subscription-based "free" program just ends up screwing the author. WIDE. cough
Thanks for reporting on this. Robin is having a "big meeting" today with Audible. We'll see how it goes.

Not one paragraph in this article is written in English starting with "given to me by Robin J. Sullivan and cooperated by..." FFS!
