I've heard - the book was better - my whole life.

Good for Dixon. The book should be better.

I enjoyed the movie but wish it had stayed faithful to the book, which was awesome.

While I loved the movie, I was disappointed in the "girl boss" bits and some of the unnecessary adaptations/divergence from the book. Most concerning: Statham is great, but I'm wondering about how his casting will affect the "Alabama boy" that is a crucial part of the character arc in the series.

I understand our boy wrote this story. But how does this get an 8/10. With a girlboss and they butchered the source material. I don’t get it. Let’s be honest we are a little biased here.

I like John Wick and I like A Working Man. Neither is perfect.

This would be a great film if it was closer to the book. As is it's a good movie, worth checking out. And no, I'm not being biased. It's almost everything I want in a film. Without the girl boss, cartoonish villains, and departures from the book it would be perfect for me.

Classic Dixon Delta revenge story.

I enjoyed the film enough to see it twice.

As others have said, the villains don't match the tone of the story. This is a vengeance flick but the villains come across like saturday morning cartoons.

I think there's three issues.

1. The number of villains doesn't give each one more than a few minutes of screen time as the protagonist searches for the main villain.

2. The director tries to give every villain something memorable.

3. The director tries to make every character likeable.

Every story has main characters, side characters, and spear holders. The sympathy of the audience belongs to the heroes, not villains. 3. Making villains likeable can be done but shouldn't. 2. Spear Holders shouldn't be memorable, it comes across as cartoony if they are. 1. Adapting a book into a movie is difficult. Too many divergences from the source material weaken the film.
