Jake Schreier, who directed Marvel’s Thunderbolts and is currently working on the studio’s X-Men film, shared more details about his approach to the project.

Speaking to Collider, Schreier first shared that the company has brought on two writers, Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo, to work on a draft of the film.

He said, “We're still developing. You know, one of the exciting things that's tying into Beef is that Sonny [Lee Sung Jin] and Joanna [Calo] both worked on this season. Obviously, I mean, Beef is Sonny's show, and Joanna worked on the season as well, and we worked together on Season 1 of Beef and on Thunderbolts*. They have come in and are working on a draft right now, which is really exciting to be able to put that group of people together again.”

From there, he highlighted why he’s especially excited about Sonny given he has “the ability to take small interpersonal dynamics and explode them into a much larger canvas.”

Next, he pointed to how they plan to approach them at-large, “When you go back and read X-Men [comics], there's ideology but also interpersonal drama, almost of a soap opera quality. Having writers who understand both how to drive ideology from personal stakes, if we get that right, that's what will feel most honest to what X-Men can be.”

Additionally, he shared that he’s not just mapping out a single movie, but multiple movies, “I think that, obviously, first things first: We have to make one great movie. But we always have an eye as we’re talking about it too. What are the different places this can go? What are the places that [have] been in the comics? What hasn’t been explored as much, and how can that be incorporated?”

“And what are some of the different avenues that we could take that feel like the kind of less-trodden path that we could go down? But those ideas are always out there, as we have the discussions,” he added.

Schreier had previously shared with The Playlist, “The core idea of what ‘X-Men’ is involves complexity. It’s an incredible opportunity with super interesting characters and [much] internal conflict. These characters are wrestling with their identity and place in the world—that’s inherently interesting and complex material.”

He also made clear that the films will be different from other iterations and hinted that one of the big differences will be the film’s scale. First, he confirmed it will be different, “Yeah, I think that’s fair to say.”

Then he shared, “There’s that red sniper dot out there somewhere, you know…. But to be able to explore all of the ideas that are inherent to that rich source material, but also at the scale inherent to the source material, that’s like a very rare and fortunate opportunity. That’s very exciting.”

Additionally, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige told Nerdist, “Jake’s an incredibly smart guy, and he’s an incredibly talented filmmaker. We had a great experience with him on Thunderbolts, and if you saw that movie, what he did with those character interactions — he also has his pulse on, shall we say, a younger demographic. Not—he’s younger than me, for sure—but he’s tapped into that in a way that I think is important. It was important for Thunderbolts, much more important for X-Men, because X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused and cast movie.”

As reported by Variety, Feige reiterated this in a press conference saying that Schreier is “going to make a youth-focused reboot. That may be reflected in mutant castings, and it’ll definitely be felt in the tone and perspective of the film.”

Patricia Arquette, who plays Harmony Cobel in Severance and recently starred in They Will Kill You as Lily Woodhouse, made the bizarre claim that Americans are “losing our fundamental civil rights.”

In an interview with TMZ, Patricia Arquette shared, “We have things that seem to be really incredibly corrupt going on in government. No accountability. No transparency.”

“And my family, on my Dad’s side, fought in the Revolution and in the Civil War for the North and we’re losing our fundamental civil rights. We are losing freedom of speech. People are now getting on government lists. We’ve seen this with tyrants all over the world throughout history. And this is a very dangerous time.”

“It doesn’t matter if you consider yourself a Republican or a Democrat, real Americans know these are our civil rights and they are being taken away and there is no accountability and I’m not sure if we’re going to really have an election. So it’s dangerous,” she concluded.

Arquette is no stranger to making such claims. In the middle of March, she said, “One of our rights in our Constitution is freedom of speech. And as an artist I don’t think you need to divorce yourself from who you are as a person.”

She later claimed the so-called “trans community” was under attack, “Right now we’re looking at a real attack on the trans community. We’re seeing people lose their driver’s licenses suddenly with no way to get to even the DMV. We’re seeing people not allowed to go to the bathroom even though they clearly present the way that they are, who they are. But they’re forcing them to go to the bathroom in the non-corresponding bathrooms.”

“We’re seeing people having to flee the country,” she continued. “We’re seeing people lose their passports. We’re seeing people talk about their pharmacies no longer offering their lifesaving HIV medications. We’re talking about pharmacies that are no longer offering PrEP so that HIV doesn’t spread. We’re seeing Planned Parenthood, the number one healthcare provider in the country, being shut down. Which was the number one testing service for all sexually transmitted diseases. … And we’re just here to say no matter what the government says, we disagree. We love you. We’re here.”

Leslie Jones, who played Patty Tolan in the awful Ghostbusters 2016 film, recently shared why she believes “marriage is legalized slavery.”

In an interview with Ziwe, Jones was first asked whether she could be a trad wife.

Jones answered, “Trad wife meaning like I’d be at home and take- Nah. … Absolutely [expletive] not. Because that’s not who I am. And my daddy didn’t raise me like that. … To be anybody’s wife. My dad used to literally say that to me, ‘I didn’t raise you to be somebody’s wife.’ … I don’t know if it’s brave or smart.”

“Most of the people that I know that’s gotten married are divorced now,” she added.

Ziwe then asked, “An so really, that’s an indictment of the institution?”

Jones replied, “Yea, I think marriage is legalized slavery.”

“I don’t know how you don’t. A man, especially if he expecting you to be a trad wife, might as well pull out a whip and a chain,” she continued.

Jones then described Ziwe as crazy, but when Ziwe countered that she was the one who described marriage as legalized slavery, Jones retorted, “I don’t believe in the marriage. … And I don’t think it’s beneficial for a woman at all.”

Later in the interview when she was asked if she hated men, Jones replied, “No, I don’t hate men, but I am disappointed in them because they’re not stepping up to the plate.”

“While we sat and grew and got our [expletive] together, they sat on the couch and played their Sega Genesis. … They didn’t try to grow. They didn’t try to grow. They didn’t try to better themselves. We invented Oprah so we can get better,” she added.

Jones is completely wrong about marriage. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the Creator. Marriage is not a purely human institution despite the many variations it may have undergone through the centuries in different cultures, social structures, and spiritual attitudes.”

It adds, “Holy Scripture affirms that man and woman were created for one another: ‘It is not good that the man should be alone.’ The woman, ‘flesh of his flesh,’ his equal, his nearest in all things, is given to him by God as a ‘helpmate’; she thus represents God from whom comes our help. ‘Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.’ The Lord himself shows that this signifies an unbreakable union of their two lives by recalling what the plan of the Creator had been ‘in the beginning’: ‘So they are no longer two, but one flesh.’”

It also states, “The marriage covenant, by which a man and a woman form with each other an intimate communion of life and love, has been founded and endowed with its own special laws by the Creator. By its very nature it is ordered to the good of the couple, as well as to the generation and education of children. Christ the Lord raised marriage between the baptized to the dignity of a sacrament.”

Josh Duhamel recently shared his thoughts on celebrities expressing political opinions and why he doesn’t share his strong opinions on various subjects.

In an interview on The Megyn Kelly Show, Duhamel shared, “It's a good message for a lot of people in the entertainment business these days. Just because you have a platform doesn't mean that you get to preach to everybody.”

Later, he shared why he doesn’t share his strong opinions on a range of subjects, “I have real strong opinions about things, but I don't really talk about it because it's like why? Why would I alienate half my audience? Because I respect their view on things, but I'm not going to preach to them. They can believe what they want to believe. I'm just here to make cool stuff."

When Megyn Kelly asked if it was a growing trend for celebrities to not want to share their political opinions publicly, Duhamel replied, “It should be. It makes perfect sense. If you really want to be successful in this business why would you make half of your audience despise you by your political beliefs? Maybe they don’t care? I don’t know.”

“I look at it as a business decision,” he continued. “I’m here to just make cool movies, cool TV. I’m here to make cool stuff. I’m the court jester. If I want to preach to you about what I believe politically, I’ll go run for office, which I’m not going to do by the way.”

While Duhamel’s comments come as a refreshing breeze in an age when so many in the entertainment world have mistaken their microphone for a pulpit and their fleeting fame for prophetic authority. Just because one stands in the spotlight does not grant one the right to preach especially when the ‘preaching’ is little more than the echo of the latest cultural fad or political passion.

To recognize this, as he does, and to call oneself instead a ‘court jester’ whose task is to make ‘cool stuff’ rather than alienate half the audience, shows a measure of prudence and even humility. In that sense, he is wiser than many of his contemporaries who have traded their art for activism and their popularity for partisanship.

However, the refusal to take sides on great moral issues is itself a decision. It is a silent acquiescence to evil. There is all the difference in the world between partisan politics—left or right, Democrat or Republican—and the eternal moral law written on the human heart. When the issue is not mere policy but the dignity of the human person, the sanctity of innocent life, the nature of marriage and family, or the freedom of the soul before God, then silence is not neutrality. It becomes complicity.

The true court jester in the Christian tradition, the holy fool, does not flatter the king or tickle the ears of the crowd. He speaks truth through parable, through story, through the mirror of drama and comedy, precisely so that the audience might see its own face and turn toward the Living God. The entertainer who portrays lives of courage in the face of temptation, mercy toward the broken, sacrifice for the weak, and joy that no ideology can manufacture is doing something far greater than ‘making cool stuff.’ He is cooperating with the Divine Dramatist who wrote the greatest story ever told upon the wood of the Cross.

Reacher actor Alan Ritchson seemingly issued a response to the man, Ronnie Taylor, he beat after he was confronted by him on his motorcycle.

Ritchson shared an image with a quote from Napoleon Bonaparte, “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”

Ritchson’s seeming response comes after video footage showed Ritchson beating Taylor.

After the footage went viral, Taylor, the man who was beat up spoke to TMZ and shared his side of the story.

He said, “It started on Saturday morning — and I’m an experienced motorcycle rider, I’ve been riding bikes all my life from dirt bikes to street bikes etc… I’d head this incestuous revving and speeding through our neighborhood of a motorcycle. I eventually saw the guy on Saturday. I didn’t know who it was and I sort of like flippantly sort of said, ‘Guy, can you please just slow it down, please?’”

“And then there are numerous people in my neighborhood who caught all of this on Ring doorbells of him speeding through the neighborhood,” he continued. “And on Sunday when I was cleaning my bike outside my house, he rode past once, twice, and on the second time I walked out in front of him and I said, ‘You’ve got to stop. Someone’s going to get hurt.’ And it escalated quite quickly from there.”

“I did push him because he was coming towards me on his bike. He did it again for a second time,” he added. “I pushed him a second time and I think the second time he got off his bike and he kicked the crap out of me. You can see he hit me in the back of my head. I went to the ground and covered myself.”

“I don’t wish the guy any malice or ill will, but we just don’t need people riding through neighborhoods like this. And I just decided I’m take a stand because someone else has to ‘cause it’s going to end up way worse than it could have,” he concluded.

Video footage from Ritchson’s helmet has also been released. It shows Taylor jumping into the street to block Ritchson.

It also shows Taylor blocking Ritchson as he attempted to leave the scene a few moments later.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that police officers in Brentwood, Tennessee are investigating the altercation.

That is where the story of his fall begins, not in a closed-door meeting with a pregnant actress, not in a Warner Bros. investigation, but in the years before any of that, when an entire subculture decided a television writer was a god.

Joss Whedon was and is talented. That part deserves to be said plainly. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” rewrote what genre television could do. “Firefly,” canceled too soon and mourned ever since, showed a writer who understood character the way few in Hollywood do. His run on “The Avengers” delivered the most difficult ensemble superhero film anyone had attempted, and he pulled it off. The talent was real.

So was the fan worship.

Over the weekend, Raz0rfist posted a video explaining how he believes that Star Trek did not rip off Babylon 5 with their Deep Space 9 production, and that J. Michael Stracyznski’s near-constant claim that the powers that be at Paramount and Warner Bros. colluded together to hurt B5 were specious at best. Now, Straczynski has responded by creating a Substack and ranting at both the popular YouTuber and this publication for covering what Raz0rfist said.

J. Michael Straczynski has had a long history of being embattled on both the internet and with bosses at whatever corporation he works at. He notoriously launches on and attacks fans who level any criticism of skepticism toward whatever he states, even though he routinely posts angry, incindiary left wing political rants on his various social media.

It hit for the author of this article back in 2012, when Stracyznski demanded that any Christian who doesn’t believe in the modernist religion of evolution by natural selection be banned from serving in Congress, which is ludicrous and bigoted as a statement. Upon replying that I did not believe in evolution and he shouldn’t automatically discount people for having different religious beliefs, not personally attacking nor being rude, Straczynski launched into a tirade, calling me “boorish” and then proceeding to block me. Even though others in the Babylon 5 group pleaded otherwise, since I was such an active part of the community, he doubled down and never let up.

Part of the issue with Straczynski is that he has Asperger’s Syndrome, and he has a propensity to launch into these ill-conceived rants at friends, fans, and even bosses on the properties where he works. It’s been a pattern, and he doesn’t appear to recognize it.

During his past, we’ve seen him go off on Warner Bros. studio executives during the Babylon 5 run. Then, the TNT executives picked up the show for the final season. Then, SyFy executives made Legend of the Rangers as a spinoff, and it didn’t go as he’d planned. Once he transitioned to comics, he fought with Image Comics' higher-ups, Marvel EiC, and DC Comics editors similarly. He’s created a reputation for being very difficult to work with, while simultaneously painting himself as a victim in every one of these circumstances.

After the third time Donald Trump won the Presidency of the United States, he let this propensity get the best of him again. In a long-winded rant, he talked about how he was leaving the country for good and immigrating to the UK, even though he didn’t have any work contracts lined up there. While he acted like it was simply pursuing opportunity, it was clear it was an unhinged political move by the way he’s acted in recent years regarding the President.

This pattern of behavior has caused him a lot of trouble over the years, and it establishes the backdrop for a Substack post that goes very over the top, falsely accusing Raz0rfist and Fandom Pulse of libel because of commentary on a 35-year-old TV show that runs counter to his victim narrative.

Rachel Zegler, who played Snow White in Disney’s live-action film, claimed the backlash she received brought “threats to my life.”

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Zegler said that backlash to her comments and the film brought “threats to my safety.” Of note, she did not provide any evidence to support this claim.

Additionally, she shared it led her to conclude, “If I’d been able to predict everything that would come my way... I would have just thrown my phone into the ocean. I think any sane person would have."

Unlike previous interviews, she did also tacitly admit at least some of the blame belongs on her, “I wish I’d had maybe five more years on me before all that happened – a little more of a frontal lobe."

Nevertheless, she also doubled down on promoting woke ideology, “The next time a woman of colour is cast as a Disney princess, I’ll be there with bells on to support them, to lift them up, to advise and to tell them what not to do."

Back in 2022 at D23, Zegler conducted a number of interviews deriding the original animated Snow White film. She told Extra TV, “The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. Weird. So we didn’t do that this time.”

After being asked about the Prince, she said, “We have a different approach to what I’m sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because like we cast a guy in the movie, Andrew Burnap, great dude.”

She continued, “It’s one of those things that I think everyone’s going to have their assumptions about what it’s actually going to be, but it’s really not about the love story at all, which is really, really wonderful. And whether or not she finds love along the way is anybody’s guess until 2024. All of Andrew’s scenes could get. Who knows? It’s Hollywood, baby!”

“It’s an inner journey that she goes on to find her true self. And she meets a lot of people along the way that make the journey really incredible,” she concluded.

She also told Variety, “I just mean it’s no longer 1937, and we absolutely wrote a Snow White–”

Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, who is playing the Evil Queen, then asserted, “She’s not gonna be saved by the prince.”

Zegler concurred, “She’s not gonna be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love.”

“She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be. The leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, brave, and true. And so it’s just a really incredible story for, I think, young people everywhere to see themselves in,” she concluded.

Zegler also shared to Entertainment Weekly, “The reality is that the cartoon was made 85 years ago and therefore it’s extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women being in roles of power and what a woman is fit for in the world. And so when we came to reimagining the actual role of Snow White it became about the fairest of them all meaning who is the most just. And who can become a fantastic leader.”

“And the reality is, you know, Snow White has to learn a lot of lessons about coming into her own power before she can come into power over a kingdom,” Zegler shared.

Gadot also said, “Also the fact that she’s not going to be saved by The Prince and she’s the proactive one and she’s the one who set the terms is what makes it so relevant to where we are today.”

According to Caroline Reid at Forbes, Zegler’s Snow White film lost $170 million for Disney. She noted the budget for the film was $336.5 million, but that was reduced to $271.6 million after receiving a $64.9 million reimbursement for filming in the United Kingdom.

The film only grossed $87.2 million domestically. It added another $118.4 million internationally for a global gross of just $205.6 million.

Patrick Stewart is lending his iconic voice to an audiobook recording of all 154 of William Shakespeare’s sonnets, set to release on Audible April 7, 2026, at a list price of $14.99.

The project, titled “Patrick Stewart Performs the Complete Sonnets of William Shakespeare,” features Stewart reading the entire sonnet collection and sharing reflections on his creative process. According to publisher Simon & Schuster Audio, the audiobook will guide “listeners’ deeper appreciation of the poetry.”

For Stewart, this is a return to his roots. Before he became Captain Jean-Luc Picard or Professor Charles Xavier, he was a Shakespearean actor.

The Shakespearean Foundation

Stewart spent over 40 years with the Royal Shakespeare Company, starting in 1966. He performed in productions of Hamlet, King Lear, The Merchant of Venice, Antony and Cleopatra, and dozens of other plays. His training and experience with the RSC shaped his approach to acting—the precision of language, the understanding of verse, the ability to make 400-year-old text feel immediate and alive.

“The works of William Shakespeare have been a vital part of my life since I was 12 years old,” Stewart said in a statement. “Performing all 154 of his sonnets has been one of the most rewarding creative endeavors of my career.”

He continued: “Each sonnet is unique — the audience will of course know the more famous, more beautiful ones, but all are worthy of exploration. There is so much love, humor, heart and, to this day, mystery that can be found in Shakespeare’s poetry. I felt compelled to make these recordings deeply intimate and personal, so each listener can forge their own unique relationship with Shakespeare’s brilliance and perhaps come away with a richer sense of what it means to be human.”

From Stage to Screen

Stewart’s Shakespearean background informed his most famous screen roles. Captain Picard’s measured delivery, his ability to make speeches feel weighty without being pompous, his command of language—all of that comes from decades of performing Shakespeare on stage.

Star Trek: The Next Generation ran from 1987 to 1994, making Stewart a household name. He returned to the role in four films and, decades later, in Star Trek: Picard (2020-2023). But even at the height of his Trek fame, he continued performing Shakespeare. He played Prospero in The Tempest, Shylock in The Merchant of Venice, and Macbeth in a 2007 production set in a Soviet-era totalitarian state.

His one-man stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol became an annual tradition, and he’s released audiobook versions of both that performance and his bestselling memoir Making It So.

Stewart received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in 2010 for his contributions to drama. At 85, he remains active, and this sonnets project demonstrates his continued commitment to the work that defined his early career.

The Sonnets Project

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Stewart recorded sonnets on video and shared them online, connecting with audiences during lockdown. The audiobook represents a return to that project with the full collection recorded professionally.

According to Simon & Schuster Audio, Stewart provides “spirited, meticulously crafted performances of each poem” and discusses each work, ranging from “curious explorations of a particular word or turn of phrase to candid insights about feeling energized and uplifted by the material, connecting with Shakespeare in a more personal and intimate way.”

The sonnets cover themes of love, beauty, mortality, and time. Some are addressed to a young man, others to a mysterious “Dark Lady.” They’re among the most analyzed poems in the English language, and they’ve been performed by countless actors over the centuries. But Stewart brings something specific to them: a lifetime of experience with Shakespeare’s language and a voice that millions recognize and trust.

Why This Matters

Audiobooks have become a major format for experiencing literature, and Shakespeare’s sonnets are particularly well-suited to audio. They were written to be heard, not just read. In a post to social media, Campbell, who also played Sam Axe in Burn Notice, shared, “Hi folks, these days, when someone is having a health issue, it’s referred to as an ‘opportunity,’ so let’s go with that I’m having one of those. It’s also called a type of cancer that’s ‘treatable’ not ‘curable.’ I apologize if that’s a shock - it was to me too.”

“The good news is, I’m not gonna go into any more detail,” he continued. “I’m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change - appearances and cons and work in general need to take back seat to treatment. My plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that i can tour with my new movie Ernie & Emma this fall.”

“There are several cons this year summer that I have to cancel,” Campbell added. “Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand-in-hand. That’s about it. I’m not trying to enlist sympathy - or advice - I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will).”

He concluded, “Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-[expletive] and I have great support, so expect to be around a while. As always, you’re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!”

Shia LaBeouf was arrested twice at the end of February after he punched a number of individuals at R bar in New Orleans.

Video footage shows LaBeouf engaged in a fight outside a bar, where he takes off his shirt and begins shoving and punching individuals.

Another video shows him seemingly being restrained after the initial fight. One individual punches him repeatedly to keep him on the ground when he tries to stand up.

According to the Associated Press, LaBeouf was first arrested and charged with battery and then was arrested and charged again for another misdemeanor count of simple battery.

LaBeouf attorney’s Sarah Chervinsky reacted to the second arrest telling the outlet, “No regular person would be required to post over $100,000 in bonds, and be jailed two separate times for one misdemeanor incident. Just as he does not deserve preferential treatment, Mr. LaBeouf also does not deserve to be treated more harshly by the police and courts just because he is a public figure.”

LaBeouf discussed the fight in an interview with Andrew Callaghan. First he said, “I’ve got some contrition on my heart. It’s not nice to hurt people ever. It’s [expletive] lame. People got hurt. I got to deal with. I’mma deal with that. I’mma deal with that in full. I’ll eat it all. It was on me. It’s not on them. It’s on me. I [expletive] up. It’s on me. I [expletive] up. It’s on me.”

When asked if he takes responsibility, He said, “1,000%. We’re not going to play games.”

As for what led to the fight, he shared that it was clout chasing. He also explained, “I was drunk and then I felt infringed upon in terms of my proximity. But I wasn’t in my right mind. So it’s on me.”

He also said, “The truth is I said words not okay to say. I don’t want to hurt nobody’s feelings. That’s what I mean by being Catholic. I’m not supposed to be out here. You know, I’m wrong for what I did is what I’m saying.”

Later in the interview he discussed the clout chasing, “The minute I get in trouble is with a person who is after something. I am an opportunity sometime to someone. That’s not to minimize my behavior, but I get it. I’m bright as [expletive] when I walk around-.”

“My side is this. My behavior [expletive]” he said. “I got to deal with that. Does that mean I got to go to rehab again? I’m just not into it, bro. I don’t think my answers are there. I don’t. I genuinely don’t. If I genuinely did, I’d go. I don’t think I have a drinking problem. I think I have a different problem, and I’m going to address it.”

As for what he believes his problem is, he shared, “I think I have a small man complex. Some kind of Napoleonic-. I don’t know what it is. I think it’s something that has to do with anger and ego more than my drinking. But that’s where I’m at now on my journey. And I’m trying to navigate it. I’ll figure it out.”

When asked what sets off his anger, he replied, “I’ll be honest with you, big gay people are scary to me. When I’m like standing by myself and three gay dudes are next to me touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry, if that’s homophobic then I’m that.”

He then shared, “That’s why I got arrested.”

LaBeouf then reiterated, “I am wrong for touching anyone ever and that’s the end of my statement on this whole [expletive].”

Despite that he continued to share what sets off his anger, “My masculinity being challenged, somebody touching my girl, touching my kid. I’m good with gay. Be gay over there though. Don’t be gay in my lap.”

“There’s personal space type stuff. It gets weird at Mardi Gras,” he continued. “I was drunk and it’s Mardi Gras. So everything I’m saying it’s nonsense. It’s Mardi Gras, you know.”

A little bit later, LaBeouf added, “I’ve never had no problem with gay people. Never. I remember paying for people’s transition surgery when I was [expletive] around on the internet heavy. I’ve never been adversarial towards it.”

“But, you know, I’m open to whatever. If somebody’s got more information on the subject then let me know,” he continued. “I know I’m [expletive] deep off into the Bible. I know what the Bible says.

William Shatner is 94 years old. He’s been to actual space. And now he’s releasing a heavy metal album featuring covers of Black Sabbath and Judas Priest.

The new album will feature collaborations with metal musicians personally selected by Shatner. He’s calling it “a gathering of forces.” The album will include covers of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, alongside new original material.

“Metal has always been a place where imagination gets loud,” Shatner said. “Each artist brings their fire, their precision, their chaos. I chose them because they have something to say, and because metal demands honesty.”

For those who don’t know, Shatner doesn’t sing. He never has. His vocal style is art spoken word, part performance art, delivered with the intensity of a Shakespearean actor interpreting rock lyrics as soliloquies.

He’s made self-deprecation about his “singing” a core part of his public persona. He’s in on the joke, but he’s also serious about the work. That balance is what makes his music compelling rather than embarrassing.

Has Been and the Ben Folds Collaboration

Has Been (2004) was the album that proved Shatner’s musical projects could be more than novelties. Produced by Ben Folds, the album featured collaborations with Joe Jackson, Aimee Mann, and Henry Rollins. The songs dealt with aging, loss, and the passage of time.

Folds understood what Shatner brought to the table. He built arrangements around Shatner’s spoken delivery, creating musical landscapes that supported the theatrical performance rather than fighting against it.

The title track, “Has Been,” is a meditation on fame and relevance. Shatner delivers the lyrics with self-awareness and vulnerability. “It Hasn’t Happened Yet” features Henry Rollins and deals with mortality. “I Can’t Get Behind That” is a rant about modern annoyances, delivered with Rollins providing counterpoint.

Critics noticed. Has Been received positive reviews, establishing that Shatner’s music was worth taking seriously.

Space Odyssey

Shatner followed with Seeking Major Tom (2011), a concept album about space exploration featuring collaborations with Peter Frampton, Bootsy Collins, and Patrick Moraz. The album’s centerpiece is a cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity,” reimagined as a conversation between Ground Control and Major Tom.

Then came the real thing: his actual trip to space aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket in October 2021. At 90 years old, Shatner became the oldest person to travel to space. His emotional reaction upon returning—captured on video as he tried to articulate what he’d experienced to Jeff Bezos—was raw and genuine.

“What you have given me is the most profound experience,” Shatner said, visibly shaken. “I hope I never recover from this.”

He later described the experience as overwhelming and terrifying. The beauty of Earth contrasted with the “ugliness” of space affected him deeply.

At 94, Shatner is still creating and willing to try things that might fail spectacularly. He’s not coasting on Star Trek residuals and convention appearances. He’s actively pursuing new projects, collaborating with younger artists, and exploring genres that most people his age wouldn’t touch.

The self-deprecating humor helps. Shatner knows his vocal style is unconventional. He knows people make fun of it. He’s made peace with that and uses it as part of his appeal.

“I’ve spent a lifetime exploring in both reality and fiction,” Shatner said. “Now I am stepping out into the unknown once again with my new project in heavy metal… The whole project is destined for this year. I hope you will join me in the exploration.”

For a 94-year-old who’s already been to space, recording a metal album probably feels like a relatively safe adventure.

Marvel actor Simu Liu, who plays Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, claimed that Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show for the Super Bowl was done “to prove white dominance.”

Turning Point USA announced its alternative shortly after the NFL revealed that Bad Bunny would headline the halftime show. The political organization announced in October, “It’s true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show.”

The organization’s spokesman Andrew Kolvet said in a press release ahead of the event, “The All-American Halftime Show is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom.”

He added, “We set out to provide an entertainment option that will be fun, excellent, and exciting for the entire family while millions are gathered together for the big game. These performers will deliver exactly that, and we can’t wait to watch the incredible show they’re about to put on. We know millions around the country will be watching too.”

Additionally, the organization shared a previous clip of its founder Charlie Kirk noting that the Halftime show “should be a reflection of the virtue that hopefully you want society to embody.”

The show featured Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, Lee Brice, and string duo Antonio and Alison Marin on cello and violin.

In response to the show, Simu Liu wrote on X, “am i [expletive] hallucinating or did they really organize a ‘halftime show’ with kid rock lip syncing to a crowd of seven people in an attempt to prove white dominance?!?!? whatever; bad bunny was absolutely LIT.”

In a separate post he also stated, “a level of stupidity that i quite honestly cannot fathom even exists in 2026, where technology has evolved to a point where most knowledge in the known universe can be accessed in the palm of your hand. the profound waste of [expletive] time that this [expletive] is.”

When he was accused of hating white conservatives, Liu implied that the entire Turning Point USA organization and everyone associated them are racists.

He wrote, “no, i hate racists. there’s some crossover but i do strongly believe that they’re not the same thing.”

GalaxyCon has barred actor Dean Cain from participating in convention events, citing vague disagreements over “values” in what appears to be the latest example of the convention circuit’s systematic exclusion of conservative talent. The decision stands despite Cain’s public confirmation that he held a productive conversation with convention organizers.

Cain, who portrayed Superman for four seasons on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, revealed the ban on X (formerly Twitter) after GalaxyCon promoted a “Stars of Superman” mail-in autograph service that conspicuously excluded one of the character’s most recognizable live-action portrayals.

“This is how they try to blacklist… What are the ‘values’ that I hold – which are not aligned with GalaxyCon’s values? Please be specific, Sarah + GalaxyCon,” Cain wrote, calling out the convention’s refusal to articulate their objections.

Following the public exchange, Cain confirmed he spoke with GalaxyCon representatives: “Spoke with Mike — appreciate the conversation. We agreed to disagree on certain things — but it turns out, our VALUES aren’t so far apart. I encourage folks to speak with each other, even when they disagree on some things — and the world will be a better place.”

However, the civil dialogue produced no material change. Cain remains excluded from GalaxyCon events, demonstrating that convention organizers prioritize ideological gatekeeping over genuine reconciliation or business sense.

The actor’s conservative political views are well-documented. Cain has publicly endorsed President Donald Trump three times, serves on the NRA board, and regularly appears on Fox News to discuss political issues. He hosted Trump’s inaugural parade in January 2025, cementing his status as one of Hollywood’s most visible conservative voices.

GalaxyCon’s decision to exclude Cain while simultaneously monetizing Superman nostalgia exposes the hypocrisy at the convention industry’s core. The “Stars of Superman” autograph service markets itself as celebrating multiple eras of the Man of Steel, yet deliberately omits an actor who defined the character for millions of 1990s viewers.

For fans who grew up watching Lois & Clark, Cain is Superman. His portrayal ran for 87 episodes across four seasons on ABC, reaching an average of 18 million viewers at its peak. Only George Reeves appeared in more Superman episodes, and those were half the length of Cain’s 46-minute installments.

By excluding Cain, GalaxyCon is reducing the value of their own product while punishing fans whose preferred Superman era is now deemed politically inconvenient.

The convention circuit’s conservative blacklist extends far beyond Cain. Kevin Sorbo, star of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and a frequent collaborator with Cain on faith-based films, was banned from New Jersey Comic Con several years ago. Like Cain, Sorbo’s exclusion followed his public support for conservative causes and Christian values.

The pattern extends to authors as well. John Ringo, a bestselling military science fiction writer, was disinvited from ConCarolinas after social media activists targeted his political views. Convention organizers caved to pressure despite Ringo’s popularity with attendees.

Larry Correia, author of the Monster Hunter International series and multiple award-nominated fantasy novels, faced similar treatment at Origins Game Fair. Correia’s crime was his outspoken criticism of left-wing bias in science fiction publishing and his support for Second Amendment rights.

These bans share common characteristics: vague accusations about “values,” refusal to specify objectionable behavior, and capitulation to activist pressure campaigns. Convention organizers consistently prioritize appeasing vocal minorities over serving their paying customers.

The economic irrationality is staggering. Cain, Sorbo, Ringo, and Correia all command substantial fan followings who would pay premium prices for autographs, photo ops, and panel appearances. Conventions are leaving money on the table to maintain ideological purity.

GalaxyCon’s “Stars of Superman” promotion perfectly illustrates this self-defeating approach. Collectors and completists now face an incomplete product, a Superman autograph collection missing one of the franchise’s most prominent actors. The service is objectively less valuable because of Cain’s exclusion.

The convention industry’s blacklist operates through informal networks and social pressure rather than explicit policies. Organizers rarely provide written explanations for bans, making it difficult for excluded guests to challenge decisions or for fans to hold conventions accountable.

This opacity serves a purpose. By keeping criteria vague and enforcement arbitrary, convention organizers maintain plausible deniability while systematically purging conservative voices from geek culture spaces.

The strategy mirrors broader entertainment industry blacklisting. Conservative actors, writers, and creators face informal exclusion from projects, with decision-makers citing “creative differences” or “not the right fit” rather than admitting ideological discrimination.

Cain’s willingness to engage in dialogue and his public acknowledgment that he found common ground with GalaxyCon representatives make the continued ban even more indefensible. If their values “aren’t so far apart,” what justifies his exclusion?

The answer is obvious: GalaxyCon fears backlash from activist communities that monitor convention guest lists for ideological compliance. Organizers would rather alienate paying customers than risk social media campaigns accusing them of platforming conservatives.

It needs to stop, and we need to apply social pressure back to people like the purveyors of GalaxyCon to ensure this doesn’t happen anymore.

Neil Gaiman had a rough year and a half after the Tortoise Podcast broke news of several women accusing the Sandman creator of sexual abuse. He went completely dark, hired PR firms to plaster social media with bot-driven posts about his work to try to hide the stories, and now he’s come out of hiding posting a Substack of some odd “Neil Gaiman Is Innocent Project” as evidence of no wrongdoings.

When the Tortoise Podcast came out with an expose on Gaiman and his predatory behavior on young girls and fans, it was the tip of the iceberg. It started with one incident of a young girl claiming she was abused by the American Gods author—one who was his granddaughter’s age and acting as the babysitter/nanny of his child at the time. Neil Gaiman responded by saying they only cuddled in a bathtub, making the situation sound suspicious

A second fan claimed he manipulated her into an abusive relationship soon afterward. Then, a third woman came out by revealing her therapy sessions after years of alleged manipulation by Gaiman, but then Tortoise revealed the fourth and fifth accusers with very similar stories. The last may be the worst of all, as the woman alleges that Neil Gaiman blackmailed her by forcing her to do sexual acts in exchange for maintaining a place to live for her and her three daughters on his New York Estate.

The sixth woman who came out was the former massage therapist of Amanda Palmer, who detailed how Neil Gaiman flashed her in one of their appointments and implied a longer intimate relationship resulting from it, based on manipulation from the Good Omens author.

A seventh came on Reddit talking about a situation where a woman believes she was drugged at a party at his house.

In one of the Tortoise podcasts, one of the victims mentioned there were fourteen women Gaiman’s ex-wife, Amanda Palmer, was aware of who had this kind of story about his abuse. It’s increasingly like this is the case with a seventh allegation of the Sandman creator’s creepy behavior.

The first woman, Scarlett Pavlovich, eventually filed a civil lawsuit against Gaiman about the situation, which was thrown out of court last year not because of his innocence, but on jurisdictional grounds. Others have received hush money, such as the wife of the former groundskeeper who spoke out despite the NDA she was made to sign by the author to get her hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation.

Now, Neil Gaiman has broken his social media silence posting this to X and other platforms:

Neil claiming he’s just being a good dad through this whole situation is quite the turn of events when he was definitely cheating on his wife in creepy circumstances under the most generous of interpretations of what happened. He also linked to a Substack that calls itself the “Neil Gaiman Is Innocent Project,” a Substack that routinely attacks Gaiman critics with conspiracy theories and begs for donations.

On the Substack, there are many emotional pleas made, and critics are often attacked as “Alt-Right Nazis” as if some political nonsense invalidates all the strange behavior by Gaiman and the hush money paid to his alleged victims.

Besides attacking J.K. Rowling regularly as “transphobic” (which we’re not sure what that has to do with Gaiman, the page also attacks #1 bestselling biological scientist Vox Day, whose diligent research currently holds the top two spots in the biological sciences field on Amazon, by calling him a ‘right wing white supremacist anti-semite misogynist’.

What that has to do with Day’s ability to research material and present findings is unclear. It’s also unclear what it has to do with Neil Gaiman, but it’s the level of “scrutiny” this project places on what they call proving Gaiman’s innocence.

Neil Gaiman turned off comments on his X post, clearly not wanting to be able to interact with the public or have anyone scrutinize his post, which doesn’t say much other than make the same political signaling the Neil Gaiman Is Innocent Project accuses his detractors of.

It is also worth noting that this project suggests our Fandom Pulse postings are related to the Tortoise Podcast, which originally broke the story. We have never spoken woth nor interacted with the purveyors of that podcast.

Even the left-wing types weren’t having Gaiman’s response, with several quote tweets going against what the author said:

Regardless, it appears as if The Sandman creator is trying to make a comeback a year and a half in. On BlueSky, where the leftest of the left remain, they’re not having it either depsite his disabling both comments or quote tweets:

It doesn’t look like his comeback tour is going as planned.

Tatiana Maslany, who plays Anisha Mir in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, called for a strike to protest ICE and encouraged the Hollywood actors union to join it.

In a post to Instagram alongside her husband Brendan Hines joined fellow actors Pedro Pascal, Edward Norton, and Jamie Lee Curtis in calling for the strike.

Hines began the video, “Tomorrow, January 30th, the people of Minneapolis have called for a nationwide general strike.”

Maslany chimed in, “That means no work, no school, no shopping.”

“In support and solidarity for their continued resistance against the violent homicidal ICE occupation that’s happening in their city and that is happening in lots of cities across the country, and will be coming eventually for everyone in this country” Hines continued.

Maslany then added, “We’re both SAG-AFTRA members and so far our union has been silent on this. And we wanted to put pressure on SAG to stand with the people of Minneapolis, to support the general strike, and to participate in the general strike, and support any actors who are choosing to walk off set to withhold their labor.”

“This is an existential threat,” she declared. “And all labor unions need to stand in solidarity and SAG-AFTRA is no exception.”

Hines then encouraged any SAG-AFTRA members watching the video to call the union “and get them to support this action.”

As mentioned above, Maslany and Hines join Pedro Pascal who called for a strike earlier this week as well. He shared a poster that reads, “ICE OUT! Nationwide Shutdown! No Work. No School. No Shopping.”

Edward Norton also endorsed a strike. He told the LA Times, “These are not normal times. It’s like we have extrajudicial assaults on Americans and humans going on on a daily basis now. And it’s not OK. Even though all people kind of have to put one foot in front of the other and deal with the demands of the day, we cannot act like this is not happening.”

“I think what they’re doing in Minnesota with the strike needs to expand,” he said. “I think we should be talking about a national general economic strike until this is over.”

Jamie Lee Curtis also shared a poster to promote a strike and wrote, “THESE WERE AMERICANS! SHOT BY OUR GOVERNMENT!”

Hacks actress Hannah Einbinder also wrote on Instagram, “withholding our labor and capital is our most effective leverage. national general strike spread the word!”

Voice actor Patti Harrison also posted on Instagram, “GENERAL STRIKE THIS FRIDAY JAN. 30TH in solidarity w Minneapolis & everyone else being terrorized right now.”

“This is all a preparation for a very insidious problem that’s happening in our world,” he continued. “And for me, I have to speak out that we will not be iced out. This is not going to happen.”

He later added, “They can’t take us all down. If the whole world showed up on Putin’s doorstep, or the Iranians doorstep, or in Washington it would stop. They would kill 500, 50 million, whatever, but the rest of us would survive with a new-. This is time for a revolution. It’s time for it. And they don’t even know that’s what they’re starting. But we have to be strong enough to know that we can change the world. We have to change it from within.”

“So if I’m spiritually ready and right and I’m ready to understand other people and to agree to disagree with them and say, ‘Okay, let’s find the solution together.’ Then that starts to change things. Giancarlo Esposito’s comments come in the wake of numerous celebrities including Pedro Pascal calling for a national strike following ICE enforcement in Minnesota.

Pascal shared a poster calling for the strike to take place today. The poster states, “ICE OUT! Nationwide Shutdown! No Work. No School. No Shopping.”

Jamie Lee Curtis also called for the strike. She shared a poster and wrote on Instagram, “THESE WERE AMERICANS! SHOT BY OUR GOVERNMENT!”

Edward Norton told the LA Times, “These are not normal times. It’s like we have extrajudicial assaults on Americans and humans going on on a daily basis now. And it’s not OK. Even though all people kind of have to put one foot in front of the other and deal with the demands of the day, we cannot act like this is not happening.”

“I think what they’re doing in Minnesota with the strike needs to expand,” he said. “I think we should be talking about a national general economic strike until this is over.”

Hacks actress Hannah Einbinder also wrote on Instagram, “withholding our labor and capital is our most effective leverage. national general strike spread the word!”

Actress Molly Ringwald threatened retaliation against ICE supporters if leftists ever reclaim power.

Ringwald posted a video to Instagram where she said, “I feel like I can’t stay silent and neither should you. There’s something horrible, horrible going on in our country right now. And we have one of the greatest counties, had one of the greatest countries in the world and I’ve always been so proud to be an American. But right now this is a fascist government.”

“It’s not becoming a fascist government. It is a fascist government,” she declared. “And ICE is brutalizing people. And I don’t care how you identify, if you are a Democrat, if you are a Republican, if you are independent, if you don’t like to be political at all, it doesn’t matter. You have to look at what kind of country you want to live in.”

Ringwald then started discussing the German invasion of France during World War II, “They were taken over by the Nazis. They were invaded. They were taken over. And a lot of people, a lot of people collaborated. And then there were people that did not collaborate and were part of the resistance. Eventually, they got their country back. And those people who collaborated were found to be criminal. And that is what is going to happen.”

“You should not support what is going on just because these are human beings and we are human beings and we cannot forget our humanity,” she continued. “But if you don’t care about that, if you only care about yourself then realize that you are going to be seen as a collaborationist. Okay? And I don’t think that anybody wants that. I don’t think that anybody wants to be on the wrong side of history.”

“So please, please, use your voice and protest,” she encouraged. “These are children. These are children who are being taken away from their parents. These are mothers who are being killed. These are fathers. These are ICU nurses. These are people that are good people. That now their families have to grieve them for doing nothing except for standing up for what’s right, for keeping women from being brutalized by these monsters. And they are monsters. They are human beings as well, but they have forgotten they are human beings and they have become monsters. Please don’t let yourself become like that.”

“Please remember your humanity. Think about your kids. Think about your grandkids. Think about your sister and your brother. These are all people who have kids, or fathers, or mothers, or aunts and uncles, and people who love them. And we all have people that love us. And we love people. I mean I hope that we love people. I certainly do. Please do the right thing and stand up and use your voice,” she concluded.

On January 26th, Pascal posted to Instagram, “Truth is a line of demarcation between a democratic government and authoritarian regime. Mr Pretti and Rene Good are dead. The American people deserve to know what happened.”

He accompanied this with an image reading, “Pretti Good: Reason for a National Strike.”

He followed that up by sharing a poster promoting a nationwide strike on January 30th. The poster states, “ICE OUT! Nationwide Shutdown! No Work. No School. No Shopping.”

The poster also directs to a website that states:

The people of the Twin Cities have shown the way for the whole country – to stop ICE’s reign of terror, we need to SHUT IT DOWN. On Friday, January 30, join a nationwide day of no school, no work and no shopping.

The entire country is shocked and outraged at the brutal killings of Alex Pretti, Renee Good, Silverio Villegas González, and Keith Porter Jr. by federal agents. While Trump and other right wing politicians are slandering them as “terrorists”, the video evidence makes it clear beyond all doubt: they were gunned down in broad daylight simply for exercising their First Amendment right to protest mass deportation. Every day, ICE, Border Patrol and other enforcers of Trump’s racist agenda are going into our communities to kidnap our neighbors and sow fear. It is time for us to all stand up together in a nationwide shutdown and say enough is enough!
